1. Tell
us about your Background and Journey?
Two-Time IRON MAN title holder
(IRON MAN is a triathlon event wherein a person has to complete 3.8 km Open water
Swim, 180 km of Cycle ride and 42.2 km of run within 17 hours.)
An MBA by profession, working with
one of the top organizations, leading a great team, but health got neglected.
Weight reached 113 kgs and with very less stamina. Realized, if I can manage my
health and work, success would be possible. Structured training, having eyes on
a major target of becoming an IRON MAN title holder all led to the achievement
of 2-time IRON MAN title holder.
2. How
did you decide to make your passion your career? Was your family supportive?
Currently I have two simultaneous careers
going on. One my corporate life and another my passion of being a triathlete. Honestly
it would have been a tough life had I let go my passion because it is my
triathlete passion that pumps oxygen in my life. The start of this passion was
my family itself so their support has been immense.
3. Who
is your favorite player and what have you learnt from him?
Well my favorite player is Saurav
Ganguly. Reason being he has been leading from the front always and someone who
is confident about himself, a good leader and importantly a great fighter.
4. What
is the level of commitment and time required to make a sport a career?
To be honest, I feel the results are
due to the effort, commitment, time and dedication put by an individual at the
behind that leads to success in the front. If someone is passionate and is
ready to make tough choices, can definitely make a career in sports.
5. How
can we encourage more youngsters to take up sports as a full time profession?
I think there is an imbalance w.r.t.
infrastructure provided in our country in different sports whereas the talent
is huge. If infrastructure is provided, we will see Indians making their mark
in world sports. This will definitely give the much-needed comfort to
youngsters making their career in sports.
6. Which
is your favorite book and why?
Well I am not much into reading, but yes, a lot
into listening and watching stuffs especially related to gaining knowledge.
There are movies which I would recommend people to watch, especially Rocky 1-5,
it shows the power of mind and family support being the key.
