1. Tell me about you and your journey.

I’ve always been a fond of girly things, who loves any type of fashion, I loved to look good as a kid and I’ll play around with my mom’s makeup stuff in the house and even get kids to model for me office it was messy but it was fun. This incident are the initial steps to achieve my passion in life and motivates me to become makeup artist.

I officially started learning (self-teaching) the art of makeup since I was 12 and ever since then I’ve just been doing it. I’m a freelance artist because it allows me to just be myself and enjoy what I do.

2. Why did you chose this career?

I personally don’t see it as my career path if I’m been honest it’s just also a “side hustle” as we like to call it I have my focus on a different career path. It’s just my idea of nothing is stopping me from doing what I want.

I might decide to make it an empire with my brand and studio someday but right now I don’t know what the future holds and I’m just focused on my degree.

3. How can one build a clientele as a makeup artist?

As a freelance artist that’s not something to worry about as long as you put yourself out there. Although it’s hard, just start with family and friends ask them to tell people they know, and be ready to do a lot of free work. Those are sacrifices to build a clientele in my opinion.

4. What are some of your top makeup tips?

Always put in 100%, take your time makeup is just like any other art as like painters or tattoo artist don’t rush when they work so take your time, and finally don’t stop perfecting your artistry.

5. What kind of job opportunities one can get after becoming a make-up artist?

Well there Isn’t much out there to be honest except working for brand stores in the mall like Sephora, MAC, Macy’s and the rest. The best thing is to be your own boss and in some cases you might get a big contract for a movie or big production.

6. Which professional courses would you suggest for aspiring artists?

Like I mentioned earlier I’m self-taught but I’ll say if you’re looking to get a degree there are cosmetology schools.

7. Your favorite book and why?

My favorite book is “21 lessons for the 21st century” it makes me think and question the world we live in and also better myself as a human. I recommend it!
