1. Tell me about you and your journey.

My name is Jasmine Vedi and I am a Professional Makeup Artist. It's been 3 years I am into Makeup Artistry field and I enjoy my work to the fullest.

Earlier to this I was a hard core HR Professional and I served in Big MNCs like NIIT Ltd and Indiamart for almost 4 years.

But somehow I realized that I am meant for Makeup, so I pursued my dream of learning professional makeup from Makeovers by Manveen.

Then after that I created my own Brand Jasmine Vedi- Makeup Artist, since then my journey of dolling up my Brides started.

 

2. Why did you chose this career?

So I always have two passions in my life One is Makeup and another is Cooking and due to my instinct of starting my own business I made an effort of pulling my passion into reality.

 

3. How can one build a clientele as a makeup artist?

It is a time taking process, one has to be patient enough with getting more clientele. As a beginner, firstly a makeup artist has to work more on improving their skills by practicing on different faces. Then comes the most crucial part of building your professional portfolio where makeup shoots helps a lot in getting more business.

In my case, it was through word of mouth where my clients keeps on referring my work to their friends and family members that’s how I keep on moving.

Last but not the least one has to be proactive on social media handles like Instagram and Facebook to connect with your audience.

 

4. What are some of your top makeup tips?

  • Most importantly listen to your client what actually they want for their Big Day
  • Then comes the point where as a Makeup Artist you have to understand their skin and texture and work on it accordingly
  • For better longevity of the makeup, it is very important to prep and prime the skin
  • One has to focus on enhancing the features of the person
  • Keep experimenting with your looks, styling for your clients

 

5. What kind of job opportunities one can get after becoming a make-up artist?

  • As a Freelance Makeup Artist
  • Opening up your own Makeup Studio
  • Work as Makeup Expert and Representative in Makeup stores like MAC, Inglot, Kiko Milano, Sephora
  • Beauty Blogger
  • Working for Print Media

 

6. Which professional courses would you suggest for aspiring artists?

Pursuing a professional certification course in Basic to Advance Makeup and Hair-styling from any good & renowned artist.

 

7. Your favorite book and why?"

"The Secret"

The importance of this book lies in that it introduces people to the concept that their thoughts and beliefs have the power to create and order their world. The understanding of law of attraction is the most important things you could learn and master.
