1. Tell us more about your background and journey.

Doaa al-Habshi, currently working in my own business as an essayist. She holds a Bachelor of English Languages and studied at Sana'a University.
I took many courses besides the language.

2. When did you decide you wanted to be a writer?

I felt like writing when I was in my second year of college. I was going on through many things in my second year of my college, and needed something to vent out my feelings and hence resorted to writing them out.

Soon I realized that the thing I started to release my feelings went ahead and became my passion and was helping me to earn my daily bread and butter.

3. Is it a financially stable career?

Here in Yemen I do not consider writing a financially stable profession. This is mainly due to the fact that there are not much publishing houses here in Yemen.

Also, it is not a very lucrative profession. This was because of the damage that the war had inflicted on Yemen and its economy.

4. Who is your favorite writer and why?

There is no particular writer, I follow many writers and I love the diversity of the way everyone writes, especially since what catches my attention are the articles, so I like the diversity of it.

5. Where does your inspiration lie?

I find my inspiration from the reality in which I live because you have experienced a new experience or a particular event that inspires me to write or come out of it with a new idea.

6. What does your typical day look like?

Currently my day is very normal, there is no change every day similar to the one before, but from time to time I write articles in which I put in a dose of stimulation for me and others who live their day in the same way.

7. What piece of advice would you like to give to future aspiring writers?

My advice to every writer who seemed and aspired to have a imprint in the world of the book is: continue to write even if you do not initially find the responses of others as you expect and also even if you do not feel that you can make your ideas sequential but continue to write and make it a daily activity for you, writing is from my point of view life, and may open doors for your own work.

8. Which is your favorite book and why?

There's no specific book. As I'm a writer, I take pleasure in reading all the great literature and hence I don't have a single favorite book, rather I have many favorite books.
