1. Tell us more about yourself and your profession.

This is Dietician Dharshini, Working in a naturopathy clinic, who finished Masters in Food and Nutrition, and I was always interested in treating people without medicine and the solution being the food - Let the food be medicine.

I have treated many patients suffering from pcod, infertility, obesity , dyslipidemia and diabetes. I love my profession as we consider each one patient as our family member and help them correct their issue without any medicine and make them enjoy their life medicine free by changing their lifestyle and habits.

2. What is your fitness mantra.

My fitness mantra is to workout at least 5 days a week with a balanced food pattern, there is nothing called bad food, it's all about moderation and maintaining it by burning the extra calories

3. What are some of major misconceptions about diets and exercises?

Some major misconceptions about diet is that they assume that only one food does the magic , or like one cup or green tea or 1 bowl of oats makes them lose weight, but the fact is that is all about balance, no one food can help you to overcome the issue, every food has its own benefits and role in the body.

And one thing about exercise is that, by doing walking or house hold work they want a flat tummy, or expect more weight loss and some even target for spot reduction, which does not happen overnight, its needs a lot of dedication, consistency and hard work.

4. How can one maintain a healthy lifestyle?

Healthy Lifestyle is not only about food and exercise, it also includes the stress management, their sleep cycles, and their habits and how consistent they are with the exercise and eating habits. I think, Mindset is important for a healthy lifestyle which pushes you forward towards your goal everyday.

5. How can one build a successful career in your field?

Successful career depends on the individual, Me as a person is from a normal background, who doesn't have any support who would welcome me into this field, but I was very sure that I wanted my career which is not affecting the people's life but making a healthy impact which people remember me forever.

Many think money is what makes people successful, but I feel that the feedbacks or the patient thanking whole heartedly after their healthy treatment is what my success is and Im everyday working towards it to reach more people to overcome their issue, and I'm happy with what I'm doing and I feel that should be a real success over money.

If you keep doing your best, people will start knowing you and it's as simple as that, do not expect anything in return, One day when you look back you will see a lot of happy smiles thanking you. So, according to me it's the real efforts and dedication you show to your profession which embarks success.

6. What is one piece of advice you would like to give someone who wishes to lose weight?

One piece of advice I would like to people who want to lose weight is follow a healthy balanced diet with a proper guidance and focus of what you are eating rather than how much you are eating, it's all about nutrition and not about calories every time as crash diet will help you lose weight, but you might be losing the muscle which is unhealthy weight loss.

Its all about eating right for your body in moderation.

7. How do diets and exercise contribute to overall well being and happiness?

Diet and exercise contribute by changing their people's behavior, attitude and the way of living. What you eat is what reflects on you, for example if you eat more junk, you become lazy, tired and inactive, but at the same time if you eat healthy food, you feel energetic, active and happy.

What goes in, Reflects out and it's all about eating well and working out as the workout releases happy hormones and makes you feel happy and super energetic. It's only that you have to start it, once you start it, you will start enjoying the process and feel good.
