1. Tell us more about your role and responsibilities at your college.

I started with being the Head of Logistics and Operations at the E-Cell of our college, called Yuva. My work and persistence led me to become the Coordinator in the second year and the President of the E-Cell eventually in my third year.

I also founded the Rotaract Club of SSCBS in my second year being the Vice President myself. My role was majorly around strategy and team management in both the societies.

2. How can we encourage more young students such as yourself to take up leadership role?

I believe the urge to take the leadership role comes from the self-confidence which in turn comes from practicing the tasks as much as possible. Being active and regular in doing what your group/society is doing makes you confident. Once you do that, your inner self urges to take larger responsibility for that society as a leader.

3. What have been your biggest challenges and learning from what you do?

From my experience of two and a half years at CBS, my biggest challenge was to become a good team worker. My over enthusiastic or workaholic nature often became a little too hard to handle for others, for it also brought out a little high headedness in me. To tone that down was really important and challenging for me in the initial days of college. But we all learn and improve everyday, so did I.

4. What are your career goals and how is what you are doing is going to help you with that?

I will be joining a global consultancy firm as an analyst and have been running my own ventures for quite some time now. My experiences and learnings from college and what I have been doing there will definitely help me tangibly and also, the corporate exposure we get in CBS prepares us largely to face challenges and situations we would encounter in a real corporate life.

5. What's your message to encourage students to do internships and attend conferences?

Attending conferences not only boosted my confidence, but also gave me a really big network to tap. Making good use of the connections I have made over the months from the conferences has not only helped me professionally, but also gave me some good friends.

Same goes for internships. Networking, learning and growth. These are the three foundations for which doing internships is really important. It's like doing what you have read in books on ground, which in my opinion is the most important thing. You get to know how a particular industry works, how theory and practical are so different.
