1. Tell us more about your role & responsibilities at your
college. How did you rise up to your position and how can a student aspiring
the same, approach it?
As said by Benjamin Franklin
"An investment in knowledge always pays the best interest."
This quote perfectly describes my best investment in a
four-year journey as a student who came to Graphic Era Deemed To Be University
with a dream to become an engineer and opted Btech CSE as my course. This
4-year journey was full of new learning, experiences, challenges and made me
realize that the world is full of unlimited opportunities.
College life was a
big transition from school life. This golden period better equipped me for all
the challenges that I will face in life and created a strong foundation of
knowledge.
It transformed me from a student to an all-rounder and
helped me to know the fact that other activities and study both are equally
important and I realized when I became the part of the National Service Scheme.
As a volunteer, it shaped me and gave me the happiness that comes from helping
others.
I was appointed as a Student Coordinator at NSS-GEU, the organization
aims to produce graduates who are socially responsible and work for the
all-round development of the nation. My team work hard to make every event
successful whether it is Blood donation camp, cleanliness drives, awareness
rally.
2. What have been some of your
biggest challenges and learnings from what you do?
It was not easy but nothing is impossible as said so the
biggest challenge what I faced was in the system of how NSS GEU was working and
needed a driving force. Everything was manual and there was no online activity.
And I realized it’s very important to build things online and let other’s know
what NSS GEU is doing.
I worked on an online system and made people do so. Made
NSS website and introduced online form, activated Fb page and made an Instagram
page and shared what NSS-GEU was doing. My seniors supported me in this and
helped me to put my ideas forward. And that made me do the best.
Being a Student Coordinator and working for NSS GEU has
given me immense pride and this role has shaped me to be a good learner and a
leader.
3. What are your career goals and
how is what you are doing going to help you with that?
Learning is really important to me. I want to continue
learning techniques that will make me a better leader. Currently, I strive to
enhance my communication and motivation skills. I know these are important
attributes for leaders in the company. For me- making that move indicates I
will be able to use everything I learned throughout my education and career to
make innovations.
Being a Student Coordinator and working for NSS GEU has
given me immense pride and this role has shaped me to be a good learner and a
leader.
5. How can we encourage more
young students such as yourself to take-up leadership roles?
Everyone wants to be a leader nowadays. But it is
imperative to think like a leader before acting out like one. A positive
outlook is also very important to consider if you are looking forward to
leading any group or even your self.
A good network is also necessary. Talk to people
understand them and
help them.
6. Do you have a message for
parents to allow their kids to do things besides academics?
To pursue crafts only to monetize and capitalize on them
and further the over-arching academic considerations defeats the whole point of
the engagement.
Everyone must enjoy what they do.
So, to all the parents out there, please let your kids do
whatever they want to, let them explore all that they want to because at last,
it’s always going to be personality and experiences over their mark sheet.
7. What did you do in your
current role that makes you feel really proud of yourself?
Leader has to take the team together, help them, guide
them and make sure that every volunteer comes forward to work and give ideas
for betterment.
My motive was to make every day count and make sure we
improve daily and keep on improving as this the only way we can do things
better and make our contribution for service which is for our nation.
8. What's your message to
encourage students to do internships and attend conferences?
To desire is to obtain; to aspire is to achieve and this
is the message I want to give to all the new learner’s that keep on trying and
improving daily. Internships and conferences provide access to spaces of the
easy flow of ideas and may enhance clarity regarding a future career path.
Students must attend conferences and explore new technologies.
