1.Tell us more about your role and responsibilities at your college.

Currently, I'm holding the position of Treasurer for Quest and NSS of my SGGSCC At Quest, I'm responsible for bringing in funds for society's events. Throughout my tenure I've raised more than a lakh rupees worth of sponsorship for the society which helped us pull off two mega-cash prize quizzing events in a single year. In addition to this, I've also helped a team of juniors to learn a thing or two in the sponsorship department and with their support we have achieved the impossible this year. Being the Treasurer of NSS SGGSCC, I have the responsibilities to raise funds and seek collaborations with NGO's and public figures for a smooth conduct of various drives and campaigns, which we host throughout the year.

2. How can we encourage more young students such as yourself to take up leadership role?

I feel that the quality of leadership is an evergreen trait for an individual. If you know how to efficiently lead a team for an event or you even tried to, then other qualities like self-confidence, perseverance and eagerness to learn always follow. It always teaches you how to stimulate action and motivate yourself and others to march towards a common goal. It's always a good feeling to be one of the major think-tanks of the team, discuss ideas which sometimes might be too ambitious but would still push you to do the inconceivable.

3. What have been your biggest challenges and learning from what you do?

When allotted this responsibility, one of the major hurdles for me were my poor communication skills and lack of confidence. I could barely even think of talking to sponsors on the call and would start murmuring while talking, ultimately proving to be a deal-breaker for me. But somehow I feel that these experiences were the only stepping-stones for me to master my communication skills. You won't learn until you do!

4.  What are your career goals and how is what you are doing is going to help you with that?

I'm currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Economics from SGGSCC. I aspire to move forward in the field of finance and analytics. However, I feel that taking up any leadership role in your college helps shape your personality. As i said before, it helps you get your self-confidence, persuasive skills, and a willingness to learn attitude which can prove vital for you during your career no matter which profile or company you are a part of.

5. What's your message to encourage students to do internships and attend conferences?

For me experience is the key. There is no better way to learn than to experience things. One cannot survive solely on theoretical knowledge. Also it's totally fine if you lack some theoretical understanding, a good internship can help you get a hands-on experience on the skill and can sometimes offer you even more than an online course. The same thing applies to attending conferences, an individual with a willingness to listen and absorb knowledge could be a major beneficiary from attending conferences involving some of the most influential people of the present world.
