1. Tell us about your background and journey.

I am a blogger, digital media consultant, and a nutritionist. After finishing my degree in Philosophy from Miranda house, I started my own fitness clothing line but failed terribly as I was very young and didn’t have any direction. And then blogging happened and things started to fall into place.

There was no road map for the career I’ve pursued and I am so proud of the industry I work within, and fellow content-creators I work alongside. Largely, we’ve had to figure it all out for ourselves. Between shoots, sponsored posts, social media, sponsorships, and more.

I’ve overcome so many obstacles to turn something so small into something so much bigger than I ever imagined.

2. What led you to start your page on Instagram and what is it about?

I started blogging in 2017 but at that time fitness blogging was not very famous, so my blog was more like a place for random thoughts and healthy recipes. I then started sharing some fashion-focused content on my page rather than just fitness.

I then realized that my images started to get great engagement from my following so I took it more seriously. Of course, I had a lot of ups and downs but the most important thing is that I never gave up. That’s why I was able to collaborate and work with some amazing brands at the beginning of my journey, which I’m really grateful for.

My audience has been continually growing and I’m beyond happy to be sharing my love and passion for fitness and fashion with thousands of people around the world.

3. What does your typical day look like?

Blogging has been a life-changing experience for me. It has given me a lot of flexibility in regard to my schedule. There is hardly a case where I don’t work anymore.

My day typically starts at 9 am. I wake up and check all the recent updates on my social media handles which I think is a bad habit and I need to change that. I grab a small snack before leaving for the gym. I come back and work on my blog posts followed by replying to emails.

I check if I have any important shoots or events to attend on that particular day. I go for meetings, work on scripts, and plan postings.

4. Is it financially sustainable to be an influencer today?

I guess most of the influencers start blogging or sharing on YouTube as a passion project or side hustle. Success does not happen overnight. One must build enough content and this process can sometimes take years in order for your platforms to support you financially.

It is really important to have a degree or a skill to fall back on in case things don’t work out. But it is totally possible for it to lead to a full-time career and give you financial stability.

5. What is your idea of success or your mantra in life?

My key to success was persistence. I have put so much work into this blog that I am thankful for sticking to it, even back in the day when I didn’t earn a penny from it.

It’s really hard in the beginning since there are so many other blogs that may look more professional than yours, so it can get you to think you’re not good enough, but that is just not true. Stick with who you are and stay your original true self.

I have seen many people try to mould themselves into what they thought people wanted to see and in that way they became less authentic and less desirable to their original readership who were there from the very beginning.

To be successful at blogging is to know your worth. Do not accept every deal even if it may seem lucrative in the beginning.

6. How can someone become a successful social media influencer?

Be Yourself. Your followers can smell it a mile away when you try to be someone or promote something that’s not you. Share your real-life journey. Partner with brands you genuinely love.

You, the brands you work with, and your fans will appreciate it! I promise. The best and longest-lasting influencers are built on soul and reality - not just hype. To be honest, great influencers live on for decades not just 15 minutes of fame.

7. Which is your favorite book and why?

"The Power of your Subconscious Mind" by Joseph Murphy - This is my favorite book of all time! It explains how to use your subconscious mind to make your dreams come true in ways you never thought possible.

I consider this book a must for all adults. I have read it many times and will continue reading it for a long time.
