1. Tell us about your background and journey.

I am a Photographer and Art Director based in Delhi, India. My photography lives between the worlds of portraiture, fashion, photojournalism and editorial photography.

Currently studying at the University of Delhi, I’m working on a graduate degree in journalism,

I'm the founder of JaliKothi, an artist collective for the brown diaspora across the globe; where photographers, digital artists, poets, collage artists etc find a platform of commonality.  I see the world thru a lens, I frame everything around me into a photograph when I don't have a camera handy. It's not just a creative outlet for me, but also a journey where I discover more and more about myself every day.

2. How and when did you realise your passion for photography?

I've always had a camera around me since my dad got a Sony point and shoot in 2004. I took photos of my dog, my mum, my plants; anything I could shoot without putting the camera at "risk". I think my passion really solidified when I argued with my principal in class 9th for over 6 weeks to help me start a photography club in school (which later actually formalized!!!)

What are some tips you would like to share with amateur photographers?
Go out there and just do it. There's no right or wrong, there's no trend you HAVE to be following. do what makes you happy at the moment, and hold onto that happiness. foster it. I never actively sought recognition from my work, it came after a year of taking photos of my friends.

3. What are the most important skills once should have to be a successful photographer?

Definitely patience, an individual approach to aesthetics, and courteousness. Sure you can copy someone else work, but that's probably the least sustainable way to grow as an individual, and as an artist. In a world where everyone is copying success, the lack of individuality is palpable. Be proud of being yourself.

4. What are various opportunities available for aspiring photographers?

Today's world is radically different from what it was a decade ago. more and more content is being pushed out every second, the digital real estate has serious contenders. set photographers, fashion campaigns, political coverage, photojournalism, vlogs, are a fraction of the possibilities that any aspiring photographer can work towards.

Additionally, make sure to have multiple sources of income, because to thrive as a creative, you can't be entirely tied down to one form of expression.
