1. Tell us about your background and journey.

Hello, I am Prerana Das, coming from a middle class joint family and I have done my schooling from Barrackpore Girls' High school and Ramkrishna Vivekananda Mission Vidyabhawan. I did my B.Sc. degree from City College Amherst Street.

2. What led you to start your page on Instagram and what is it about?

So basically I never used to put makeup and stuff until I started going to college, I started buying makeup after seeing the makeup tutorials on Instagram and YouTube. I loved how they transfer your flaws in your beauty. When I stated going to college I thought to do some makeup on myself and I got a good response. People started asking my how I did it, what products I used and so on.

My Instagram Profile is there since 2014 but I became active on 2018 , bringing the videos and the pictures of my looks that I create. I started posting it and got enough of the engagement. To be honest the engagement became very high recently when I posted a picture of me posing in a saree, my pictures started getting featured in shoutout pages. Even still now I am trying , practicing a lot and researching a lot about products to recommend the best to my followers.

My goal is show people how you can do a lot without investing a lot of money. Belonging from a middle class family I know the struggle so I want to influence those who love makeup and art but can't afford the expenses. I want to show them you don't need expensive products to create a flawless look. It's more like "IF THERE'S A WILL THERE'S A WAY". Mostly my videos are all about how you can get good products at a cheaper prize and also I recommend products which is effective as well as pocket friendly.

3. How would you distinguish the term blogger from an influencer?

For me an influencer is the person who can think out of the box, can bring the best of every bit she/he has. A person who influence people to love themselves, their passion, their job and what not. As an influencer I always try to show everyone that self love and knowing their worth is the most important thing in life and people should not discriminate people for their caste, religion, body shape, skin colour or anything. I always try to elaborate these things by my posts.

4. Is it financially sustainable to be an influencer today?

I believe anyone can achieve anything if they try their best and want it from their bottom of their heart. I want to let you know that I, being a mehendi artist , influencing people to grab their dreams is hard. there are people who will judge you for everything you do in your life no matter what. Even if you're happy or doing good they will judge you.

Being a successful influencer is tough financially I would say if you don't get the extreme engagement of people till now. But maybe in future people can make it.

5. What do you think influences consumer behavior?

I guess how I recommending a thing to a person, how am I showing a product, what content am I giving to the consumers is very important. Because like every other fields competitions are here too. If you can't bring the best of something , consumer will go for the catchy one.

6. What is your idea of success or your mantra in life?

I just want to give my best as I said, not thinking about the outcome. I am trying hard to bring the best for my followers and also I want to take this further. I have never planned to do this but as i can see how people are coming to me for the recommendation and help, I really love to do that and for me their reviews are enough. I have a lot of plans in my head to do and a lot of landmarks to achieve so fingers crossed.

7. How can someone become a successful social media influencer?

Successful is a big word for me till now. I don't call myself that. But there are somethings I follow when I create things or post something. People see you because they like your content, they like the things you post, they try to learn from your post, they try to recreate If you do something new.

So if you have to be an influencer you must come up with new content keeping the trend in your mind. The more you bring new contents you get more engagement. This is what I do.

8. Which is your favorite book and why?

I have read a lot of books, I loved them but being a Potter head I will always go for the Harry Potter series written by J.K Rowling.
