1. Tell us about your background and journey.

I am Saurav Kumar. I come from a small town in Odisha known as Rourkela. Being in a middle class family, we do not get to explore many career options. When I expressed my wish to become a photographer, infront of my family, they weren't really happy about it.

I was quite determined and passionate about it, therefore, I worked hard and saved money to buy a camera. I went on with Landscape Photography, because I have been a nature lover since my childhood. Initially, in order to manage my photography expenses, I also did Weddings.

It took some time and a lot of efforts, but people started liking my work. Later, I also got the opportunity to work with the Government of Odisha in some of their projects. Becoming a Landscape Photographer, is indeed the best decision of my life.

2. How and when did you realise your passion for photography?

In our school days, me and my group of friends used to go to nearby mountains and rivers on some of the weekends. One among them had a small digital camera in which we used to click each other's pictures. In between those photo sessions, I used to click pictures of plants and nature.

With time, I got more into it or may we can say, nature dragged me towards itself. I started enjoying it. Then, after a lot of efforts, I bought my first camera in the year 2017. Since then, there's no stopping. My works inspires me to do better everyday. By now, I have learnt a lot about weather, climate and nature due to photography.

Also, I have received a lot of recognition on my works and many of them were displayed in different Photo Exhibitions.

3. What are some tips you would like to share with amateur photographers?

I would like to tell all the Amateur Photographers to just keep taking pictures. As with any art form, practice is the best way to improve your skills. Also, do not run behind social media followers because skills matter much more than number of followers. Keep working energetically and be passionate for your work, things will automatically fall into place.

4. What are the important skills one should have to be a successful photographer?

Successful Photographer is the one who is satisfied with his work, and also makes his audience and clients happy & content. He/she should keep themselves updated about the technical knowledge in the photographic field. A photographer as a person should be humble & modest. He/she must respect each and every culture and should have good absorption power.

5. What are various opportunities available for aspiring photographers?

With the advancement of technology, photographers these days can connect with other photographers worldwide, to get internships. You can pursue your passion in different genres of photography which can help you to earn not only money, but also awards and respect.

In order to earn money, you can go for Weddings and Events which has changed a lot in these times. If you look around, you will find opportunities, you just need to grab them at the right time.

6. Which is your favourite book and why?

I don’t read books, but I love watching novel based movies.
