COVID 19 Response – We Are All In This Together

The year 2020 was the start of a new epoch. Nobody was aware of how drastically everything was going to change. Something was going to happen that was going to cause carnage, loss of livelihood, hunger, annihilation. Little did we know that this pestilence was going to hit everyone equally. Right now in India, this disease is at its peak. Almost 54% of cases that were positive of COVID-19 were from August itself.

This disease has already hit 26 million people worldwide and 3.86 million in India. With all that, this pandemic has hit people of different religion, race, social status uniformly. However, due to the cruel reality that not everybody has the same access to resources, those with fewer resources are suffering more and there is a lesser chance for them to get back to normal life.

These are dark times, there is no denying. Our world has faced no greater threat than it does today We can't fight this war on our own, but we can fight it if we work with unity. And now more than ever, it is important to stay positive and give back to the community whatever we can.

The COVID-19 pandemic has demonstrated the interconnected nature of our world – and that no one is safe until everyone is safe. We all know the problems that this adversity has caused and so now we should look for something that we can do to bring a smile on somebody else’s face.

Everyone Can Do Something

If you are in a comfortable position to donate something, this is the best time. It does not matter if the step is small, but it is imperative to help others and if you are able to help a family sleep better, it is worth it. Remember, every small step counts. It may even save a life. So, don’t resist helping others. This is the time when we all should come together.

There are many organizations working day and night to provide essential goods to people. If you don’t know how to start, you can begin by associating with some NGOs. MCKS Food for the Hungry Foundation, Give India, Kashtakari Panchayat, these are the names of some NGOs that are actively working to mitigate the damage caused by this pandemic. Join them and you will be overwhelmed to see the amazing work that these organizations are doing.

Here you can find the information about the work that these NGOs are doing and you can connect with them.

Create Awareness

This step cannot be stressed enough. Right knowledge about how to fight with or what to do to prevent this virus is very important and what you can do is - educate yourself first with the right preventive measures to avoid contaminating from this disease and then with that right information educate others. Remember to trust only the measures provided by WHO and not to trust any random WhatsApp forwards. Nobody is immune to this disease. We can’t fight it alone but if everyone tries, we can surely stay away from contracting the disease.

Be Grateful

It is very important to realize how lucky you are, amidst this pandemic, you have your family to support you, to help you, and to encourage you in every possible way. It is time to tell them how much you love them. Now as most of us are living again with our parents, it is very important to help them in their daily chores. A small help from your side will make their day happy and don’t forget that elderly and the young ones are the most vulnerable right now, so keep them safe.

Support The Frontliners

This category could have been merged with the above categories but the warriors that they are, fighting on the behalf of everyone, could not be confined in any other category. We should forever be grateful to our heroes who are putting their lives in danger every day for us. We know the fear is the same for all but they have the grit to come back again the next day and work for humanity. If we can do anything to ease their lives, we should. Without even thinking twice about it, it should be our priority.

Take Care Of Your Health

The new motto on which you should live your lives is – Health is Wealth. Amidst this adversity, your health is the only friend that you have got. If your body is healthy then you have greater chances of recovery. Everyone knows that with the increasing number of cases of COVID-19 positive patients, it is very difficult to stay isolated but taking appropriate precautions can help you save your life.

WHO has listed some precautions and necessary measures to protect yourself and you should follow it by heart. Following social distancing, wearing masks in all public locations, sneezing in your elbows, washing hands regularly, and using alcohol-based sanitizers are some important measures to protect yourself.

In the end, if we will fight together, we will stand victorious. Scientists all over the world are working day and night to make a vaccine for the coronavirus but until it happens we should do whatever we can to keep ourselves healthy and safe.

Take care of yourself and your family’s health and stay together while maintaining physical distancing with them and I think this is the right time to do something which you have always wanted to do. Exercise daily and keep your mind and body healthy to be able to fight from anything. Be healthy and stay safe.
