Here’s Why We Can’t Stop Watching F.R.I.E.N.D.S Even Today

Hey it’s September. Do all the F.R.I.E.N.D.S fans out there remember something important in September? Its Friends 26th: The one with the Anniversary! With 10 seasons and 236 episodes, the show did attracted a huge fan base all around the world.

Friends is a bit like melted chocolate, loved by all, never gets old, and most importantly, we cannot imagine living a life without it. The show has always been there for us and provided us with life changing information such as the importance of Unagi!

Being a 21 year old, I have streamed the entire series of friends maybe 10 times, as a teenager, and now as a college student as I always found something relatable about the show at each point. Friends has attracted a audience of all age groups.

1.The Characters Were Simply Fantastic

With Ross Geller being the Dinosaur-geek, Joey Tribbiani as the sum actor-cum-playboy, Chandler Bing as funny and sarcastic accountant turned advertiser, Monica Geller as the control-freak chef, Phoebe Buffay as spiritual, street-smart, and just plain weird and Rachel Green born with a silver spoon in mouth, turned waitress and then later takes up fashion.

The actors had a fair sharing of screen space, amazing chemistry on and off-screen, and the actors were perfect for their parts. The whole team of friends was open-minded. In fact, to be honest, all of us definitely find ourselves related to at least one of the six characters in real life.

2. Theme Tune=Karaoke Gold

Every episode brings another chance to enjoy, the theme song “I’ll be there for you” and obviously waiting to clap those 4 times. You sang along the whole theme song which has beautiful and meaningful lyrics.

My personal favorite line is “I’ll be there for you, ‘cause you’re there for too”, which just ends up reminding me about the times I spent with my friends, without even knowing what D.O.A means. By the way, D.O.A means dead-on-arrival.

3. The Quotes

Apart from Chandler Bing's sarcasm, the one liner's were equally great. Do you hear a friend's fan often saying, “Unagi”, “We were in a break”,“I know”, “Pivot”,“Could I be wearing any more clothes”, “Oh.my.God”, and most importantly “How you doing?”

In spite of watching the whole season for the 10th time, these lines are still capable of making you cry with laughter.

4. Still Relevant

Thanks to this show for teaching all of us some important lesson even after 25 years. Like, you know to steer clear of leather pants, to never wear lingerie as your outfit when meeting your potential partner's parents, how to avoid a fake tan disaster, and of course, never let a pimp spit in your mouth.

5. Phoebe's Songs

Want a list of good songs for your playlist? Here, just listen to Phoebe's songs! Phoebe's songs attracted most of the audience out there. Every song, though sounded crazy, had its own beautiful meaning. “The Holiday Song”, something that you, being a crazy friends fan can sing during Christmas.

Are you even a friend's fan if you hate “Smelly Cat”, the one where she reminded us to forgive our self.

6. 20's Struggles

Unlike other TV shows, friends never really tried to cover the harsh reality of life everyone would be going through while in their 20s, when you have no idea what you are doing with your life. I’m pretty sure most of us out there don’t even have a ‘pla’.

Have you ever felt low because your co-workers don’t like you? Well, it could be worse. The co-workers might even lock you up in the cooling fridge!

7. It Taught Us That It’s Okay Not to Be Perfect

Friends taught us that it’s okay to be who you are, and that you don’t have to change for anybody. Someone out there is definitely going to have your back always and accept you for who you are. Ross had three failed marriages and ended up with the love of his life in the end.

Everything works out in the end. You will always find your “lobster”.

8. Your Friends Can Be Extremely Different Than You

No one would have expected a rich girl, a chef, a paleontologist, a masseuse, an account, and an actor (I think), would be friends for a lifetime in spite of all the ups and downs. And they have always supported each other and have always been happy for each other no matter what.

9. It Shows That Life Can Be Great, Even If Things Don’t Go as Planned

Rachel was a runaway bride, Ross fell in love and married a lesbian, Chandler married his best friend's sister Monica, Phoebe being a surrogate for his brother carrying the triplets, Ross and Rachel had a baby together. None of these went as planned and yet in the end, it just made them all happy.

With patience and positivity everything changes. Who knows, your plane of life might just take a sudden take off just like it did for Rachel, from a waitress to being an executive at Ralph Lauren!

10. Taught Us the Meaning of Life

Last but not the least, and the most important, friends has taught us what life is, and that, life has it’s ups and downs, it’s all about accepting it and moving forward. Also, friends have also taught us that it’s okay to have an argument with your close one’s, it’s all about apologizing and forgiving.

Let it be about breaking the “bro code” and dating your best friend's girlfriend or ex, looking at the love your life standing in the altar with another girl on his wedding day, choosing love over friendship, losing your mom at a young age or even having a mean twin sibling.

Friends have always pointed out the harsh realities of life. Maybe that’s why we can relate to friends so much, because we too like them, go through such hard times. But then as our six best friends have taught us, let us always remember “Welcome to the real world. It sucks. You’re gonna love it”.

So if you haven’t watched friends yet, then what are you waiting for? Go watch it and let’s pull out all those who haven’t watched this show and make them watch it because “They don’t know that we know they know we know”.
