1. Tell us about your background and journey.

My name is Rahul, born, and brought up in Bhopal(M.P.). I am in Bangalore for the last 10 years working in Software Industry. I am doing Photography for the last 4-5 years now. I have not done any course in photography.

I am mostly in Travel and Street Photography, but I love to shoot everything. I have done various projects in pre-wedding, post-wedding and for brands like Vivo, Techno, Johnny Walker, Daniel Wellington, etc.

2. How and when did you realize your passion for photography?

It happens during the trip with friends, I have used one of my friend’s cameras on the entire trip and click a few pics which came out quite good, and got some appreciation. from their onwards, I thought I can start clicking the pics. After a few months, I bought my first camera and join a few photo walk groups and started learning the photography form there and with the help of Google and YouTube.

After that, I submitted my pics for a few exhibitions and it got selected and got a prize as well, that was the real boost for my photography and I started investing more time in it.

3. What are some tips you would like to share with amateur photographers?

The most important tip which I want to share with everyone is to start spending some time. Everyone buys a camera and thinks they are a photographer after sometime when they are not able to click some decent pics they stop doing the photography. I believe the first and foremost thing for any hobby is spending time with it and start learning.

Google and YouTube have tons of material to learn, start exploring that. Check out some amazing photographer's work. If have any doubts ask with your fellow photographers or with an amazing artist who is inspiring you, that is very easy due to social media.

4. What are the important skills one should have to be a successful photographer?

I believe Observation should be the most important skill one should possess. Every photograph should convey the story, and we have many stories around us. We just have to observe that. There are many times when something good/bad happens in our surrounding but we don’t notice it.

5. What are the various opportunities available for aspiring photographers?

There are many opportunities in photography in the field as a photographer if you want to make a career.

As a Travel Photographer, you can do the tie-up with certain brands/hotels/Tourism Company and create content for them, Wedding Photographer, Product photographer, as a freelancer you can sell your photos through multiple websites online.

As a Mentor, you can take classes or take photography tours. Journalism Photographer, Documentary, etc. You just think of anything and can have opportunities. But nothing comes immediately. You have to give time and learn first.

6. Which is your favorite book and why?

I won’t read books; I love to read articles/watch videos about photography. I love to watch movies/web series and these things give me ideas/inspiration about photography.
