The Key Is To Stay Original - Keshav

1. Tell us more about your background and journey.

Hi. This is Keshav.

I never knew I would get into dancing nor did I ever have such dreams, and also no one in my family circle is into this dance field, but when was a kid u used to like stand in front of TV just moving hands and legs and also used to fall down sometimes. And when I stepped into to school may be I was in 2nd or 3rd not sure.

My mom took me to a dance class near jaynagar Bangalore.. I used to get so scared when I hear that loud music in the studio and people shouting around.. As days months passed started gaining confidence fear started disappearing from me.

And also as years passed I used to get selected for small stage shows and competitions they used to make me stand in the lead.. But even then I never knew I would literally go into this field. People started telling my parents I performance well dance well.. He has a good body language n so on.. I started performing on festivals family functions and also these kinds of events. So this is my small story of my journey.

2. When did you first decide you wanted to pursue dancing and how did you start?

I never decided that I wanted to pursue dance as my career. But I started getting good opportunities for performing at different places and on different kinds of people. And when I stepped into my college life people started questioning and asking me why don't u start your own dance school train more students for the talent you have.

But I was not in a situation to get into that as thinking about my family background as dance was literally new to all my family members. Years passed I stepped into degree final year so when deciding what to do next after my studies.. Thought about the ideas and suggestions of people and thought why not I do something and make impossible into possible. And 2014 was the year were I literally went into complete dancing!

3. Who is your favourite dancer and why?

When people ask me whose your favorite dancer I just tell them one thing..i myself am a favorite dancer to me, because there is one thing according to me... Do not copy people and try to become like them.. Those people have already reached the places where they have to be... You be yourself show people what you are and set your benchmark!

4. Can you throw some light on opportunities one gets as a dancer?

opportunities are lot for evey one.. As a dancer opportunities will over flow to an individual depending upon the person, talent that he has and the capacity, as per me opportunities can't be particularly told or assigned to an individual! You just need to wait for the door bells to ring!

5. Is format training required or can one train themselves purely on the basis of talent?

Formal training is not always necessary for a person to learn. It's just as simple as u say, you have talent you have the capacity to showcase then you’re all set to go.

Some have the talent with self-learning, some are always dependent, some would always want a guru to guide them on the right path. Because there are people who are misguided when they especially step into this dance industry!

6. What piece of advice would you like to give to future and aspiring artists?

My only advice to those people would be try to be yourself don't copy others.. Use your talent in the right direction. Don't take any negative comments into your head.. 100 people talk 100 things. Ignore negativity just keep moving on your track called life you will reach heights!

7. Which is your favourite book and why?

There is nothing as a favorite book. I keep reading different kinds of books from different places.. There is nothing particular that I prefer! And also reading books is a rare habit with me!
