Teju Ashwini - Failures And Experiences Will Teach Us A Lot To Decide And Take Up A Career (Independent artist)

Teju ashwini

In my life, I faced lots of ups and downs, crossed many people, too many learning and finally got into media. Actually I wanted to start with just one video but ended taking it up seriously.

1. Tell us about your background and journey.

I'm basically from Andhra. My dad is a musician and my mom is a classical dancer. I have a elder sister who is working as a bank manager. We got settled here and I did my school and college in Chennai and we weren't in a plan of going back to Andhra.

My journey is filled with experiences, I started earning at the age of 15. I used to be a mehandi designer, saree printing designer, worked in a professional company for four years as senior instructor.

In my life, I faced lots of ups and downs, crossed many people, too many learning and finally got into media. Actually I wanted to start with just one video but ended taking it up seriously.

2. Did you ever expect that you will get huge audience support for your channel while starting your content?

As I said before, I actually wanted to do just one video but since I had a huge response from the crowd I was inspired to continue doing it and then later I got many opportunities to work with different talented people and I didn't want to miss that because I'm a person who don't miss out opportunities.

And now I'm here with huge fan base who love my work and without them I wouldn't have made this decision.

3. Which dance form do you practice and enjoy the most?

Mom is a classical dancer and she is my first guru. I practice a lot with her and also Bollywood since I take classes at my studio and I work on contemporary too because that's my favorite dance form.

4. How can one pursue a career in choreography?

Not just choreography, if you take any career, Failures and experiences will teach us a lot to decide and take up a career.

If you want to pursue your career in choreography,

  • Theoretical knowledge is must
  • Work under a experienced choreographer
  • Musicality and lots and lots of practice

5. What piece of advice would you like to give to future and aspiring artists?

Honestly speaking, I don't like giving advice to people and moreover this generation has more clarity on what they do and what they create. In simple words, they know more than us.

But the general thing that I would like to give is that everybody should be determined on what they want and stay honest to it.

6. Tell us more about the 'Independent Artists'.

Independent artist is my dream and my first baby. I struggled a lot to have my own dance studio. Inspite of the criticism and negativity I had I never gave up and now Abdul, Prathap, Vijay and myself are the founders of IDA and without them I wouldn't have been running them successfully.
