Shahboz Mahmudov

In 2017, I participated in the “Face of central Asia” competition. There I was awarded the Grand Prix. Then I was given a permit to go to Korea. In Korea, too, I won first place in the “Face of Asia 2017” competition.

1. Tell us about your background and journey.

I am Shakhboz Mahmudov, born on March 18, 1991, in the city of Tashkent, Uzbekistan. I am the eldest child in the family. After graduating from high school in 2006, I went to college and study jewelry art. After graduation, I worked in the same field for the next 2 years as a jeweler.

In 2012, I started to show interest in Hairstyling and barbering and I spend a good 5 years working as a barber. I always had an interest in posing and acting and this brought me to the world of Modeling and acting.

In addition to hairdressing, I was involved in photography processes. In 2017, I participated in the “Face of central Asia” competition. There I was awarded the Grand Prix. Then I was given a permit to go to Korea. In Korea, too, I won first place in the “Face of Asia 2017” competition.

In 2017, I was a winner at the nomination of The Best Photogenic Mister Universal Ambassador Indonesia and I also started winning prizes in such contests and competitions.

As a real model, At the end of 2017, in Bangkok, In early 2018, in Hong Kong, I worked in neighboring countries. In the same year, I went to Moscow, where I studied the Barbershop operation, and at the end of the year, I returned to Tashkent.

At the same time, I decided to go abroad. I had International model’s contracts from Vietnam, Hongkong, Thailand, and India, I participate in Toyota, Chevrolet commercial ads as main cast, Head & Shoulders for Asia commercial. I have even been involved in the filming of commercials for Lenovo phones.

One of my highest goals is to go to Hollywood. Now I have opened a modeling school "Tash Model Management" in Uzbekistan. @mgmtash I want to put Models from Uzbekistan on the world map of Modeling and Fashion.

2. How did you become a model and reach this stage?

Since childhood, I wanted to be a model but did not consider it a profession. When I was photographed, I tried to show myself as a professional model. During a trip to the Republic of Kazakhstan, those who saw my photographs offered me a job in a "modeling agency". But I was ashamed, and sometimes even scared to take on such a big responsibility.

In 2016-2017, I was offered to star in commercials. I agreed and filmed for several projects. After that, I received many requests and offers from advertising agencies and modeling agencies. Currently, there are offers from abroad.

3. What is your opinion of body image created by the media and how hard is it to put up with it?

First, I hate getting involved in all kinds of negative thoughts. Photos and videos on my Instagram page are also examples of serious creativity. I don't think I have negative photos.

I don't like posting amateur photos or videos. I don't ask for too much attention. I do not care about the critical, negative thoughts expressed in my direction.

4. How important is social media validation in your profession?

At the moment, I think that the work of a creative person should be on his personal page. For me personally. Because directors and sponsors are looking for a new face, new images for their advertising on the Internet. It is an important working tool for expanding my career.

5. How can one take care of their mental health in this high-pressure glamorous field?

I had many difficulties in entering the fashion world. I quit my lucrative job and went to other countries to become a model. My initial efforts were unsuccessful. But I did not give up, I began to work more on myself. But when the problems grew, sometimes I felt like giving up.

I fought with my will and promised myself: "I have chosen this path and will go to the end!" Because I knew that one day all adversity would end. Now everything is working out. Most people on the street recognize me. Even abroad, my advertising photos hang on the street. My videos are broadcast on TV.

6. What are some of your upcoming projects?

In the near future, I want to try my hand at the big world of cinema. In a few days, the series in which I played will be released on TV channels in Uzbekistan. I also get a lot of offers for the role of the main character in films. In the future, I plan to continue my creative career in Hollywood.
