Stranger Things x Fortnite: An Epic Crossover

 

Have you watched Stranger things? Are you a big fan of the 80’s horror show? Are you impatiently waiting for the fourth season? Here’s a proposition. Fortnite gave a hint of this game collaboration in its ninth season as a promotion for the series’ third season. But they officially launched the dresses of our favorite Chief of Hawkins, Jim Hopper, portrayed by David Harbour and the Demogorgan during the show’s third season.

The outfits are available in the ‘Item Shop’ for purchase. The outfits of the chief and the Demogorgan cost 1500 and 1200 v-bucks respectively. In Fortnite, v-bucks represent the in-game virtual currency. There is a ‘Vines’ weapon added in the cart too. The weapon costs 500 v-bucks. Epic games tweeted the announcement of this game last year.      

The Beginning

When Epic added our ever-so-famous Scoops Ahoy Ice Cream parlor in the Mega Mall, fans’ excitement went beyond control. Also, before the official release of the game, the players were able to travel from one place in the island to another using portals. These portals are the entry points to the Upside down.  

As the show released on July 4th 2019, the skins of Jim Hopper, The Chief of Police and the primordial being, Demogorgan were released. The Vines weapon, a powerful shotgun, was also released along with the above-mentioned characters.

For Netflix, it is one of their 75 tie-ins including Burger King, Nike, Coca-Cola, Lego, H&M.

Additional Features Along With These Characters

In the chapter 2, they added a new map that was derived from the old one. The old map was in the game for two years and the players were happy with this change. The new map has more vegetation and rougher terrain with rivers where the players can swim.

The progression of the game is by getting more kills and opening the chests. The battle pass costs 950 v-bucks and the players can get an additional 1500 v-bucks after completing the goals.

There was an interesting collaboration that happened last year - Avengers: Endgame x John Wick. But this game was a limited edition. This obstacle does not appear in the Stranger Things game version.

Another Surprise

On the Stranger Things Day, two other characters were launched into the game: the ex – party. Steve Harrington, played by Joe Keery and Nancy Wheeler, portrayed by Natalia Dyer. Are you wondering what’s a Stranger Things Day?

Well, it’s a household date. November 6^th 1983 is the date when Will Byers’ disappearance, also known as the date when everything started. This was created by Netflix by creating a hash tag, “See you on #strangerthingsday, nerds”.
