Previously, shopping were limited by geographical locations but these days, with the advent of internet, it can be done from stores such as Level Shoes in Dubai to Extra Butter in New York in a matter of seconds. You've got the retail world at your fingertips now.
The Faces Of Digital Shopping
Digital shift in shopping sneakers is not only safer, but presents entirely new challenges for companies, e.g. bots, a software application that performs certain tasks automatically, meaning, they can run without specific instructions from humans. Resellers mostly use bots because it can buy items faster than a human can. Resellers are looking to gain profit from the highly coveted shoes. People now blame them every time they can't get the sneakers they want.
Nike Fit
To solve the problem, the sportswear giant Nike is now introducing Nike Fit, a feature that uses a combination of computer vision, scientific data, artificial intelligence and recommendation algorithms to scan your feet and find the right shoe fit for you. And you can do it all in augmented reality, using the Nike app on your smartphone. To help you find out the best sneakers websites , I've highlighted some best sites and apps and their unique attribution.
1. StockX
StockX is a Detroit based online marketplace and clothing reseller, primarily of sneakers. The company was founded by Dan Gilbert, Josh Luber, Greg Schwartz, and Chris Kaufman in 2015. StockX serves as a live bid or ask marketplace where buyers place bids, sellers place asks and when a bid and ask meet, the transaction happens automatically. Purchased items are sent to StockX by sellers for inspection and verification.
After proper verification, then authenticated products are shipped to buyers. If the items fail to pass then are returned back to the sellers. StockX is widely known for sneakers and streetwear but it offers other clothing and accessories such as handbags and watches. If the sneakers, bags, handwatch you bought from StockX happen to be a counterfeit, items are returned to sellers, and buyers get their money refunded within two weeks of time.
2. GOAT
GOAT is similar to StockX and it can be used in sites, androids and iOS. The one thing that distinguishes GOAT from StockX is it sells used sneakers whereas StockX deals only with brand new pairs. In GOAT also you can bid on shoes, or you can buy directly. It has got the same provisions as StockX.
The items are inspected and authenticated products are shipped to the buyers. It has a special feature of 'Instant Shipping' where the ordered items are priorly authenticated and can be shipped right after you place an order. Once you purchase the items, the app does a brilliant job of keeping updated of the status of your purchase.
It lets you see when your seller has confirmed your order, items sent for authentication and when they've been authenticated till the time they've been shipped and delivered to you. Great order progress helps GOAT stand out among the rest. If you are a citizen of US, it charges $10 shipping fee and $30 to $40 internationally.
3. Sneaker Con
Sneaker Con was founded in 2009 by New York-based sneaker enthusiasts Yu-Ming Wu and Hayden Sharitt. It is the premier event for sneakerheads to buy, sell, and trade their shoe collections. Since its birth , Sneaker Con has hosted over 1 million attendees and vendors in more than 40 cities worldwide. It organizes "The Greatest Sneaker show on Earth" every year.
After a decade of identifying a community of sneaker fans through the Sneaker Con events, the company has launched an app designed to compete it's rivals StockX and GOAT. Sneaker Con provides both worn and new sneakers as does by GOAT. It is tech forward in terms of authentication system than GOAT and StockX. Whenever you buy a pair of sneakers from the app, they'll come with a physical tag that features NFC.
These "legit" tags, come loaded with basic information about the pair you're getting, like model name, condition and size. To view that, you need to open the Sneaker Con app and tap the authentication tab, where a window will pop up and tell you it's ready to scan your Legit NFC tag. Sneaker Con can only work in US right now where buyers have to pay $12 shipping charge of their purchase items. The next Convention will be held in Cleveland on 21st March 2021.
4. eBay
eBay Inc., an American multinational e-commerce corporation based in San Jose, California was founded by Pierre Omidyar in 1995. It facilitates consumer-to-consumer and business-to-consumer sales through its website. In eBay you can buy your items directly from independent sellers unlike StockX, GOAT, and Sneakers con.
It makes the ordering process quicker but it also comes with its own risks because eBay doesn't have authentication services for sneakers as that of StockX, GOAT etc. You need to buy from top rated sellers to get genuine products and must stop buying anything that has bad reviews or very low sale. If you come across a pair that's ridiculously cheaper on eBay than on GOAT or StockX, that should be a red flag. If the price sounds good, probably the item is.
The company has preventive tools to spot potential fakes, and that its Verified Rights Owner program (VeRO) ensures that brands can report listings of products that seem to be questionable. eBay does have its Money Back Guarantee which protects you from potential scam. If your order never arrives or doesn't appear to be genuine and authentic, you can report it to eBay and you can get your money back.
