There Is So Much to Earn From Food Blogging - Jayadivya Iyer (Food Blogger from Mumbai)

My page mainly intends on 4 concepts which I strongly support in the food line - the history of the dish, the taboos of trying new cuisines, the concept behind the menu and dish of different restaurants and also focusing on the budget friendly restaurants for my followers because that's something everyone looks for.

1. Tell us about your background and journey.

I am an engineer by profession and started my blogging journey in my 3rd year of engineering for the passion of food and to explore the various cuisines and flavours all round the world. The interest in food has come to me because of my father who always encourages me in trying new dishes and cuisines and eventually making me fall in absolute love for food.

To handle the blog with my studies was quite tough but eventually everything fell into place and i am really happy about it. My page mainly intends on 4 concepts which I strongly support in the food line - the history of the dish, the taboos of trying new cuisines, the concept behind the menu and dish of different restaurants and also focusing on the budget friendly restaurants for my followers because that's something everyone looks for.

Also I try and recreate different dishes with simple home ingredients so that everyone can try it out easily which is a special series during quarantine. Exploring reading and finding out the history of the right dish is an absolute joy in my blogging life and makes me want to do more of it.

2. Which is your favourite cuisine and dish?

Well I can't just pick one but I do have my favourites that would be Japanese, Mexican, Cantonese, Mediterranean. Its because these cuisines are built of simple cooking techniques and simple and subtle flavours which blend in well to give the right sharp taste of the ingredients.

That's what I totally love about the cuisine. Favourite dishes would be Tacos, Roasted bell pepper Hummus, Nigiri, Sashimi, Dim sums.

3. Should food blogging be just a passion or can it become a regular career?

If its your passion it should definitely become your regular career also!!! There is so much to earn from this career you can charge for reviews, collaborations, food photography, brands to collaborate with products and recipe building can bring in good revenue sources.

Just because you would be doing something you absolutely love and enjoy and won't regret ever and will be waking up happy because you love your job.

4. Which restaurants/food joints would you recommend to food lovers?

In Mumbai I would definitely want people to try out Tokyo treat, London taxi, toast and tonic, tygr, pancham puri wala, yazu, New York burrito, dairy don, mia cucina, 1441 pizzeria. The restaurants are totally authentic source of having the right cuisine and also budget friendly also.

5. What makes you appreciate a particular dish or a restaurant and talk about it on your blog?

The thinking behind every dish is very deep as the chef's go through a lot of research and analysis on putting together a dish on their menu. The taste, the presentation is all I look for when I see and have a particular dish.

Also the ambience is the next important factor to rate and review a place also with the service. That's the main key role to put a dish forward on my page.

Dinshaw's Ice Cream is made only from best ingredients and flavours that you will love. There is something for everyone at Dinshaw's. Check out the amazing flavours for you here.

6. Is there a dish you particularly associate yourself with?

Two dishes that fascinate me the most are dim sum, pastas and pizzas. It's a sheer joy to cook and present these dishes as they are fabulous in flavours with minimal ingredients and taste the best. I have put up 4 different pizza recipes on my blog for vegetarians with a speciality of no maida, no yeast, no oven , no cheese pizza!!

Its right totally cooked in home style which gives you the rich and authentic flavours. You can check out the recipes on my blog. And when it comes to Dimsums the art of creating the dim sum sheets and the shapes just makes me so happy.

And pastas and pizza I make from the scratch without any ready to cook sauces or base or pastas from outside. Everything I make at home and try it out and it does wonders. Stay tuned on the blog for the pasta series coming up by October end.

And as a blogger I am associated with all the different dishes round the world because every dish is unique in its way.

7. Which is your favourite book and why?

I am not a book fan but when it comes to food related books I have my favourite Jamie Oliver's 3 famous books which are my absolute favourites 5 ingredients , 7 ways , comfort food, All vegetarian !!! Its brilliant how he has out in the book with basic cooking and simple ingredients totally love it!!
