7 Tea Varieties You Should Try at Home

Reading a book while there is slight pouring outside is awesome. This feeling is furthered by the pouring of hot tea and sipping it slowly enjoying the lines of the text and listening to the sound of crickets. Tea is a drink that more than half the population of the world consumes. ‘I am down with a headache. Get me some tea’, ‘ Let us take a tea break’, ‘ I am getting drowsy with all these works. Make me some tea’. What is the magic behind tea that people feel drawn to it?

Why Tea?

I haven't any idea. But one thing is sure. There is something special about this drink. We all enjoy sipping tea whilst doing our work. It is the source of energy and relaxation for at least some of us.

What comes to our mind at the mere mention of tea would be the one that could be made in 2 minutes with some milk, sugar, and tea powder. Or rather you would be thinking about black tea or green tea that is more popular. But there are a lot more varieties of tea that could be tried by anybody who loves to experiment with food. Here are the 7 varieties of tea you should definitely try at home.

It is rightly said that one eats with eyes first. It means nothing but what one makes should first be appealing to the eyes. Only then would we feel like tasting it. So let us see some beautiful tea varieties that appeal to both our eyes and mouth.

1. Pomegranate Tea

You must be wondering about how to cut and take out the pomegranate kernels without labor. Check out this video to learn about pomegranate cutting hacks.

What we need to make this tea is a cup of pomegranate, 100gm sugar, and hot water. I am sure these ingredients are easily available. Just crush the pomegranate kernels by adding some sugar. We just need crushed ones, not pomegranate paste. Once it is done, pour some hot water into it and stir it vigorously. Let it cool and refrigerate it. Now, you have sweet red pomegranate flavored tea to enjoy during the summer.

2. Hibiscus Tea

Hibiscus flowers are not just adornments to our garden. They can be used to make drinks as well. Collect some flowers from your garden and separate the petals from its stalk. Well, if you want a strong tea, then gather some more flowers. Boil the petals for about 7 minutes and pour it into a cup. You can add a cinnamon roll or else a few crushed cardamoms to the addition of lemon extract and honey drops. Your strong-flavored hibiscus tea is ready.

3. Condensed Milk Tea

Condensed milk tea can be made in different ways. Cinnamon rolls are added for flavor usually. Here we are looking at the Srilankan model of condensed milk tea. You just need to spare 10 minutes for this.

Put some 4-5 tea bags in a teapot. Add some boiling water and brew it for at least 7 minutes. You can either use tea bags or tea powder for this recipe. Once it is done, remove the tea bags and add condensed milk as per your requirement and stir it well. Cool! Your tea is ready.

4. Arabian Tea

The Arabian tea is more or less like the common black tea. But, still, there is a difference. It tastes Arabian. How? Let us check out!

Saffron is an integral part of Arabian dishes. So, it is unsurprising that saffron is used in their tea also. Crush a cinnamon roll and 3 cardamoms well. Boil some water and add the contents to it. Add some lemon juice and a pinch of saffron before you serve it. And here is your Arabian tea.

5. Layered Milk Tea

You might have heard about layered cakes, tiramisu recipes, and even layered puddings. Here we are trying a layered tea. There is no room for spices here. Boil a cup of full-fat milk. Add some sugar. Froth the milk and keep it aside. Take another kettle and boil some water. Put some tea powder and boil it until you get a strong extract. Pour the frothy milk into a glass. Please note that the temperature of the extraction must be higher than the milk. Use a spoon to pour the extraction into the frothy milk. You can see that it makes a beautiful layer at the top of the frothy milk.

6. Tandoori Chai

This tea variety is super spicy. For this, you require a small clay pot. Heat it well as a first step.

Now add some milk and little water to a kettle as you would make a normal tea. Add some sugar, tea dust, crushed ginger, and cardamom. Finally, place the heated clay pot in another big vessel and pour the contents into it. The tea overflows the heated clay pot and it starts to make froth. Remove the clay pot carefully and the tea is now ready to be served. An organic teacup is advised for the best results.

7. Kashmiri Chai

Here we are going to try a tea that has a pinkish look.

Kashmiri Chai requires some cold water for the initial step. Add some star anise and crushed cardamom to this cold water. Boil it and add some tea dust ( Kashmiri tea leaves are preferred ). Then we need some baking soda with a pinch of salt. This would probably be the first tea variety that requires salt. You will get a strong mixture. Boil it at low flame and start aerating it after adding some more cold water. Now add a cup of milk to the mix. Heat it for some more time. Strain it and add some nuts to it before serving. You can even use badam or pista for better taste.

Now that we have discussed how to make 7 varieties of tea, you must be thrilled to try these ones by one. Tea is sometimes emotion and emotions come in different modes and ways. Try making different varieties of dishes straying away from the usual styles and discover the better cook in you. Make your recipes unique and nourishing as well.
