Yoga is not a career option. It is revolution within oneself, it is a lifestyle to be pursued not with the aim to earn money or name but to rebuild yourself.
1. Tell us more about yourself and your profession.
I
am a yoga teacher and student who runs her own yoga studio - Shakti
yoga mandir in haridwar. I have been practising from last 3 years and
have been teaching since 2019. I follow and teach Iyengar yoga online as
well as offline. I first got introduced to yoga back in 2012, which
made me realise how much I loved spending time exploring myself inside
and out. Unfortunately, I couldn’t follow it for long and got enrolled
in university to pursue my master’s degree.
2. What is your fitness mantra?
According
to me there is only one matra that is ‘balance’. A balanced mind in a
balanced body. Where one practices yoga, HIIT, gymnastics, the goal is
have freedom. Freedom of movements, expression and communication between
us and the environment. So if one wants to build muscle or wants to
gain flexibility, it comes together.
3. What are some of major misconceptions about diets and exercises?
Major
misconceptions lies where people have certain agenda like loosing
weight, body building, and working entirely on the physical body. One
believes that exercising more And eating will have help them reach their
goals faster, sometimes take steroids and supplements to build muscles.
But all this is just for the shell which will no matter what decay and
die in time.
What really needs to be focused is the state of mind that comes with the state of the body.
4. How can one maintain a healthy lifestyle?
That’s
easy, drop unrealistic expectations and stop comparing yourself with
other. Work on your mind and then work on your body. Because unless you
don’t have clarity, discipline, dedication to be healthy nobody can push
you to stay healthy. Especially now when there are so many distractions
and opportunities to get deviated and tempted.
5. How can one build a successful career in your field?
Yoga
is not a career option. It is revolution within oneself, it is a
lifestyle to be pursued not with the aim to earn money or name but to
rebuild yourself.
There are many old institutions
that have different courses but the true learning comes when we follow a
teacher or guru and stay under their guidance to find our own path.
This takes years of patience which is not usually found no a days.
So those who wants to build be a profession, they can do YTT, MA in yoga, B.sc or B.A in yoga.
6. What is one piece of advice you would like to give someone who wishes to lose weight?
You don’t loose weight unless its affecting your health (physical and mental).
7. How do diets and exercise contribute to overall well being and happiness?
Simple-
simplicity makes one happy and sound. Satvik ahaar and yoga or vyayaam
leads you to life of simplicity, away from the worries of mandane life
and complications.
More peaceful your interactions with the nature, more blissful you are.
