When I was young, I loved to watch movies. I never really thought of becoming an actor per se, but I had always been interested in the kind of things which entertain people.
1. Tell us about your background and journey.
I was born and brought up in a middle-class family in Jharkhand Palamu (India). I was a stage performer. When I was 14.
That time one day my uncle said 'why don’t you try in the film industry?' I asked him how. So, he suggested joining a theatre in Kolkata. Finally, I made my decision. I went to my mother and told her about my plan. My whole family's reaction was Pagal ho gaya hai.
They were convinced that the film line is for rich people, but I didn't change my mind. I went to Kolkata, I did theatre till 2016. After that, I moved to Mumbai. So yeah, I have been here for the last four years and the struggles are still going on.
2. Did you ever think or dream of being an actor?
I love things that make me happy. I love to express the situations in front of everyone. When I was young, I loved to watch movies. I never really thought of becoming an actor per se, but I had always been interested in the kind of things which entertain people.
3. How can one approach their career and have the confidence and belief to become an actor?
Just believe in your self first. It’s very, very important. Pursue the way which you want to choose. Don't believe in any hearsay. Just focus on your target, believe in your dreams, and work hard. You can achieve anything, it's not just about becoming an actor. You can do anything if you will be real! This will work in any sector/field!!
4. If not this, what would you be doing?
I love to play cricket so if I was not in the film industry, I would definitely play cricket.
5. For a complete outsider with inroads, what advice would you like to give?
I will suggest whoever you are or wherever you are from if you love acting and want to become an actor, show the world how you understand and see the acting. Create your vision to show the art!! You don’t need to copy anyone just be your self!!
6. What is your mantra of success?
Sorry but I don't think I am successful enough to give an answer to this.
7. Which is your favourite book, and why?
My favourite book is a play called Madhavi. She (Madhavi) spends her whole life in the hope of love. She hands over her body to kings. To complete the promise of Galav, she gave her babies to those kings but even after making so much sacrifice, conditions are imposed on her for that thing.
However, her last decision is a tough slap on the face of the male-dominated society. That's why this is my favourite book
