When You Are a Content Creator, You Are Your Own Boss - Shweta Choudhury (Blogger From Odisha)

Shweta Choudhury

I like to call myself a creator rather since I am always brainstorming and going for creative ways to produce content.

1.Tell us about your background and journey.

I am a content creator as well as a stylist at Myntra now. I started my blogging journey back in college. I always have had a “passion” for fashion. To be honest, I use to follow a lot of bloggers on Instagram, and seeing their love for their profession, it motivated me to pursue blogging too.

I always feel content that I have a huge contribution to introducing blogging in Odisha, maybe that’s one of the reasons, I clicked. As I started getting love from social media, I researched and did my best to produce quality content.

2. What led you to start your page on Instagram and what is it about?

There was hardly any blogging scenario back then in Odisha. So, I started my page and focused my content around fashion. I basically do these "lookbooks" where I recreate everything pop culture.

Be it tv shows, movies, books, celebrities, cartoons, or anything we can possibly relate to. I believe in the idea of producing fun and relatable content through means of fashion.

3. How would you distinguish the term blogger from an influencer?

I think an Influencer is someone who has enough expertise in his or her niche to sway over their target audience. If they can in any way persuade someone and moreover motivate someone to follow their passion, they can be deemed as influencers.

I like to call myself a creator rather since I am always brainstorming and going for creative ways to produce content.

4. How and where do you find inspiration to churn out content?

Everywhere! I binge a tv show and I am like, content! I read a book, and then also I am like the content! I eat chocolate, go to a restaurant, or watch an IPL match, I am always like content because I end up recreating them or their logos.

5. How do you define success for yourself?

As long as you wake up in the morning, feeling good and happy to go to work, it's success to me. Being my own boss and the love and appreciation I get from my other family, my Instagram family means success to me.

When you are a content creator, you are your own boss, your manager, your editor, your accountant, your make-up artist, your stylist, and even your own photographer!

Being so dedicated to your work and evolving as a person online and in real life as well, means success to me. All my hard work has indeed resulted in various newspapers, radio, and magazine publications, and numerous brand collaborations as well.

6. How can someone become a successful social media influencer?

The first rule is to be your authentic self and the key is to be consistent. If you can churn out creative, share-worthy content consistently, your page will grow. Find a particular niche and just make sure you somehow stand out from the crowd.

Mostly, make sure to enjoy your work. If you keep stressing yourself out, work won't be fun anymore.

7. Which is your favorite book and why?

Ah, best question ever. It's always going to be Harry Potter. I grew up with the book itself. It taught me so much about friendship, relationships, bravery, and life. I am such a big Potterhead that I own way too many HP collectibles and I also made an Instagram filter based on it.
