The photographer must wait, search and see the moments outside. The artist must wait for such moments inside himself and he must be ready for their appearance at any moment of his life. Both must have patience.
When I was a child, I admired landscapes and beautiful objects. I wanted to capture them in order to share with others the emotions that they caused in me. But I could not take these objects with me or convey my feelings about these objects, events and phenomena in simple words, so I decided to capture them in photographs, in drawings, sketches, in poetry and in prose.
During my life, all these directions have competed with each other – which better represented what I was experiencing. I looked at the reaction of people to my creations, photographs, drawings, poetry or prose, and I saw that each of these areas captured something special.
And ultimately, I moved on to a synthesis of all these directions - I illustrate the impressions expressed in poetry and prose in my books with my photographs and drawings, as well as in the form of clips. Thus, I create my emotional experiences in several dimensions.
2. How and when did you realize your passion for photography?
This did not happen immediately. The first time this happened during my stay in the south of France, where the river Hérault flows, among the ancient ruins of the Romans and the old Gothic buildings of the region.

The second time I had the idea to somehow capture my feelings in Serbia, this was due to the fact that I could not describe to my friends everything that I experienced and saw in simple words.
In both France and Serbia, I took occasional pictures and noticed that my stories had more success when I illustrated them with photographs. But in some cases, this was not enough, and I showed my impression from some places or objects by drawing them since the impressions of the photo did not evoke the emotions that I expected.
3. What are the important skills one should have to be a successful photographer?
Feeling the moment when nature and objects are in tune with my feelings when they are in resonance. If the photographer knows how to capture such moments, then he will be able to convey them. The artist creates these moments in his works.

Therefore, sometimes it is more difficult for a photographer to work than an artist. The photographer must wait, search and see the moments outside. The artist must wait for such moments inside himself and he must be ready for their appearance at any moment of his life. Both must have patience.
4. When did you decide you wanted to be a painter/illustrator?
When I realized that some events and some objects cannot be conveyed by photography, or I have to wait a long time for consonance, or when the object cannot be in that time, in that situation, in the environment in which it will give the emotion that I expect from it.
5. Is it a financially stable career?
Differently, depending on the circumstances.
6. Who is your favourite illustrator and why?
My favourite illustrators are Mstislav Dobuzhinsky, Sergey Sudeikin, Leo Bakst, Savva Brodsky, Tamara de Lempicka. Why? Because the skill with which they, using brevity and simplicity, are able to tell the viewer each of their stories, seems to be the pinnacle of what, if not every illustrator, then at least I should strive for.
7. Where do you get inspired from to create art?
I was inspired to be an artist by a Russian art association “Mir Iskusstva” (“World of Art") and artists of the Art Deco era.
8. Which is your favourite book and why?
Rather not my favourite book, but my favourite author. This is John Tolkien and there is something in each of his books that attracts me. Why? Because I like fantasy, myths, legends. They not only develop the imagination but also help to learn to create something tangible from the intangible through visualization and verbalization of fantasies and feelings.
