I’ve been inspired by fantasy or mythological stories like Matsya, or cinderella to create couture as well as ready to wear looks for both Men and Women.
Born and brought up in Delhi, since an early age I had a passion for art, I was never really good at sketching but I remember always loving the idea to create something artsy, be it a sketch of a house or be it just taking my mom’s stole of different colours and tying it around to make it look like curtains.
Boring never got my attention. I tried to find Art in everything. Then I grew up like most kids of my generation and was fed with the idea of either becoming a doctor or engineer. So I opted to study medicine for my high school. But my destiny was something else, so after my 11 nth standard exams, I told my parents I don’t want to pursue in the medical field.
Worried at first, but my parents were very supportive. I was toying between the ideas of either interior design or fashion design. I chose the latter coz I was just awestruck by some creations and the appreciation that brings along with it from strangers. So that’s how I ended up enrolling myself into Pearl Academy, Delhi as a fashion design student.
After graduating as a bachelor of fashion design, my graduation project was showcased at Worlds of Wearable Art, New Zealand and I got a lot of press coverage like Ftv, New Zealand, USA Today and various regional media networks.
Coming back from New Zealand after a great experience at the show, shortly after I started my own label called “Jubinav Chadha”.
I’ve dressed up many celebrities like Ayushman Khurana, Shreyas Talpade, Rashmi Desai, Harshdeep Kaur, Asim Riaz etc. I love dressing up people, I’ve been inspired by fantasy or mythological stories like Matsya, or cinderella to create couture as well as ready to wear looks for both Men and Women.
My upcoming collection is Titled “Raas Leela” it’s an ode to love, my first ever bridal collection, and I am thrilled about it, really excited to show you all what I am doing.
2. Fashion industry is often considered women-centric and stereotypes men? What's your opinion?
Actually, the biggest names in fashion design are that of Men. Sabyasachi, Manish Malhotra, Rohit Bal literally the Men rule the fashion industry. Now stereotypes are something highly Debatable, although stereotypes exist in all fields of life and are literally the brainchild of ignorant people.

I too was (still am) at the receiving end of judgement. The only reason it doesn’t bother me is because I know for a fact the people judging me must be the same people who think patriarchy is cool and pink colour has a vagina. (Fun fact COLOURS don’t have gender) . So I pay no amount of attention to judgements.
3. How can one become a successful fashion designer according to you?
To become a successful fashion designer, balance your art with commerce, the basic difference between art and design is that. Make sure you create art but also make sure you have a client to buy it.

Top colleges in India for design according to me are NIFT, NID and Pearl Academy and around the globe are, FIT- New York, LCF- London, Central Saint Martins- London.
5. Who is your favourite fashion designer and why?
Well I worship Late great Alexander McQueen, he was the best we have ever seen, his vision and the idea of making art to make you feel something inside was revolutionary.

His shows had a story and fantasy. Maybe that’s why at my label Jubinav Chadha, we have always been inspired by folklores, fantasy, mythology or stories etc.

It’s not an easy industry to make a name for yourself, it’s really a competitive field, make sure you have vision and education to make it in this field.

I don’t read books that often, the last book I absolutely adored was Milk and Honey by Rupi Kaur, but I also love the Shiva Trilogy by Amish Tripathi.
