Many might have not loved the movie for its screenplay or rather a comparatively slow narration or any other reasons but there are definitely a lot of things that the movie touches upon and most people can relate to.
The movie is a sweet watch with elements of suspense, romance, comedy, and a deep message that is the main highlight. The movie stars Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone in the lead roles and has been directed by Imtiaz Ali. It has a nice ring to it and is often considered an underrated gem by many cinema lovers.
It narrates the story of Ved (Ranbir Kapoor) who has an unusual craze for stories and characters from childhood. But he becomes a product manager due to parental pressure. It is a pretty old, typical Indian film phenomenon, but quite essential to the plot nonetheless.
When on holiday in Corsica, he takes a break from his very ordinary life and fits into a 'character'—that just means that he behaves like something he's obviously not. This just so happens to be where Tara (Deepika Padukone) meets him and they decide to just tell lies about each other to increase the fun.
You would definitely expect them to fall in love with each other and imagine the movie would revolve in the same genre, but the thing with an Imtiaz Ali movie is that you should just sit there at the movie screen with a blank mind as you never know what you are going to experience next.
What happens thereafter would definitely stir up many confusions as you witness a different Ved who has been living the life of a machine hiding his personality from the world and following a normal lifestyle. Tara plays an important role in his life in making him stand for his own and voice out his opinions.
The movie is filled with beautiful moments and finds a connection with most people who at some point in their life gone with the problem of career choice and forced by their family to accept an alternative path in life that steals away their happiness just for the sake of society, power, money, and status.
One of those movies that let you doubt the importance of not fulfilling your goals is Tamasha. In this film, unparalleled cinematography, wonderful background scores, and noteworthy songs are key points that help bring it to another standard. Ranbir Kapoor and Dipika Padukone fabulously perform their roles. Even though Ranbir gets a little more screen time, one can't help but connect to them and watch the film from two viewpoints that are equally strong and passionate.
What the film lacks mainly, is the emphasis on the plot's finer elements. How did Ved get close enough to Tara to love her? Why Tara, even though she understood that something was missing in Ved, pursues him further to the point of fooling both of them that they are in love? They are explored, as a person, to an extent, but their screen-relationship leaves something to be desired. Overall the movie is a different experience and has a deep message for society to let their children explore their futures instead of cutting off their wings. Let them fly and they would find their own destiny.
Being able to follow your own dreams is something everyone aspires to do. But not everyone gets the freedom or has the luxury to do so. Talking about own dreams, a major dilemma amongst most teenagers is what they want to do, be it studies or career, there isn't always a fixed path that the person is sure to walk through his life.
That's when life gets even more difficult and the confusion just eats you from the inside. Relatives and families would often tell you that you are free to do things on your own but there's always a will or theirs that wants you to pursue a certain progression.
Many households want to keep their children in the home country and others would want them to study a subject that they find better as it has better career prospects. Well, the debate is never-ending, but the concern here is that when a person isn't sure of his goal and has to also take into consideration others’ will, things become pretty messed up.
Well, the trick is to still figure out what you yourselves want to do. It's no harm trying to live upon your loved one's expectations either but you will only be successful in anything. Just try to be calm and assess the situation, and eventually, things do fall in the right place.
