1. Tell us about your background and journey.
We were biology nerds before we got into blogging. We both
were in the second year of graduation when one morning Rituraj got this idea to
start an Instagram account specifically to share our love for food, while he
was making an omelette, which is also the first picture we ever posted on the
account. We both were overjoyed with this idea as we always admired the variety
of food Delhi has to offer.
The journey has been quite hard. When we started, we had no
idea what to do, how to create content or how to gain followers. Moreover, we
didn't know anyone in the industry so we had to figure out everything on our
own. We learnt everything about food, blogging and food photography as well as
editing that we could find on the Internet, and started practicing. Slowly, our
content improved and we started getting an influx of followers as well.
2. Which is your favourite cuisine and dish?
Our favourite cuisine is definitely Mughlai and north Indian
food, and favourite dish is Butter chicken.
3. Should food blogging be just a passion or can it become a
regular career?
It's both, passion of food blogging is something that drives
bloggers to pursue it as a full time career. If you aren't passionate enough
about food and culture, you might not enjoy being a full-time food blogger.
A food bloggers' life seem very amusing and fun to make
anyone consider pursuing it as a career and most people fail as they think of
it as a way to make loads of money. But that doesn't happen, as you need a lot
of patience and hard work to get recognition, to stand out on any platform and
then make some money. It definitely doesn't happen in a day, month or sometimes
even a year.
4. Which restaurants/food joints would you recommend to food
lovers?
I think Delhi is known for the unending variety of food and
it's a bit tough being born in a city which serves such a rich variety of
cuisines, as you have so much to eat but a limited appetite. There are still
few restaurants that we could never get enough of, including Karim's, Gulati,
Changezi chicken and some street food joints like Fateh ki kachori, Gopal
sweets, Chacha di hatti, Wong's kitchen for some Chinese food and of course our
all time favourite street food destination — Chandni chowk. This place will
never disappoint your hunger pangs.
There are many more restaurants & street food joints
that we could recommend but writing it all for an interview won't be possible,
one can always find all that on our page as well.
5. What makes you appreciate a particular restaurant or dish
and talk about it on your blog?
We look for five main things in a restaurant: Atmosphere,
Service, Hygiene and of course Quality & flavours of Food. We always share
our honest experiences of every restaurant we visit or every dish that we try.
We feel that while there are many good restaurants in our city, most of them go
unexplored, even when they serve delicious food, so we try to explore such
places and introduce them to our audience.
6. Is there a dish you particularly associate yourself with?
That would be Golpagga aka Pani Puri as we can be both sweet
and spicy, depending on the other person.
