When you open a novel and read what do you expect from the author?

You expect a book that keeps you on edge the whole time and makes it really hard for you to find the culprit. You expect a book that makes you hesitant to put it away and in my opinion, these authors meet my expectation of a mystery book.

A mystery book contains a storyline that will either grip you through its well-thought plot and its whodunnit puzzles or through the characters with depth. I think these authors are the best when it comes to the mystery with both the plot and the character.

1.Erle Stanley Gardner

Even though the perry mason series was written and published in the early 1930s the series was a huge hit and was adopted as both series and movie. Gardner not only wrote 82 perry mason novels and short stories he wrote many other detective stories and even non-fictional stories of his travel.

Perry mason is a perfect mystery that contains the whodunnit puzzle and a serious twist at the end of the novel every time. Mostly it is difficult to find the culprit in many books because of the perfect storyline, and the character depth in each and every book is spectacular.

It is said that the role of the defense lawyer was based on the author himself and his experience when he was a lawyer.

2.J.K Rowling

When you say J.K.Rowling all you can think about is the harry potter series and I say you can count that as a mystery as well. But not only did she write the harry potter series she also wrote a mystery series named Cormoran strike under the pseudonym Robert Galbraith.

When I said that harry potter can be counted as a mystery series, I meant it. You see because the trio solves the whodunnit puzzle every year of education in Hogwarts and there are some serious turns and twists. But her Cormoron strike novels are really good as well that gets better and better as the story goes.

3.Arthur Conan Doyle

When it comes to detectives or mysteries I bet sherlock holmes is the one that comes to mind in the first place. He proved to us that the power of observation is beyond wonderful and almost heroic. There are a lot of adaptations of the book sherlock holmes in both series and movies and you can even argue for days on the topic of which adaptation is better.

The title “The hounds of Baskerville” is especially chilling and mysterious. There are a lot of other short stories under the sherlock series that are as gripping as hounds of Baskerville.  Sherlock is an iconic character and there is no way you would not love him and his partner, Dr.John Watson.

4.Agatha Christie

Agatha Christie is a mystery genius and her sixty-six novels are proof of that. Murder mysteries are the best when it comes to mysteries and Agatha Christie does it better than anyone.

Her fictional detective “Hercule Poirot”, is one of the longest-running characters in the books she wrote. He appears in 33 books and even in some short stories ready to solve a murder as crisp as a morning. She is not the queen of crime for nothing.

These classic authors are really fantastic but there are other mystery authors who are raising up in the field. Check out these authors and have a great time.
