Although
we all are not interested in sports, but most of us like to watch some sports
like cricket, badminton, football, baseball, etc. Each sport is regulated by
several professional sport leagues. This article tells about a sport league of
baseball.
Baseball
is an outdoor game played with bat and ball between two respective teams, in
which fielding team has nine players and a pitcher team who does batting has
four players on the field. This game was first initiated in United States of
America, and known as National Pastime.
Major
League Baseball (MLB) is the oldest and famous professional sports leagues of
baseball in United States of America and Canada. It was founded in 1876. In
1901 American League was founded. MLB headquarters is situated in Midtown
Manhattan.
Both
National League and American League were co-operated but were working as two
separated entities until they merged into one organisation in 2000 and governed
by Commissioner of Baseball. There are total 30 teams in MLB, 29 teams in US
and 1 team in Canada.
The
half of the thirty teams is of National league and rest half of them are of
American League. Every year these teams play 162 games. The games of MBL start
in March of every year, but this year due to pandemic only 20 games took place
in MLB.
In
each season five best teams of American and National League respectively play
postseason tournament that culminates in World Series. MLB also coordinates
Minor League Baseball, which has the teams affiliated with MLB club.
MLB
in association with World Baseball Softball Confederation conduct the
international World Baseball Classic tournament. MLB also manages sport’s
umpiring crews, marketing and television and radio station contracts. The
multimedia branch of MLB is situated in New York.

in Houston, Texas. The team was previously the part of National League from
1962 to 2012. The team played its first World Series in 2005 and won in 2017.
New York Mets

York Mets is a National League Team (East Division) of MLB, which is based in
New York. The team has won two World Series, one in 1969 and another in 1986.
Forbes ranked this team 38th most valuable sports team in the world
and sixth in MLB.

in Washington, D.C. This team has won three National League East Championships
in 2014, 2016 and 2017. They won their first World Series in 2019.

based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The team has won five World Series
championships, nine National League pennants and made three appearances in Wild
Card Game.

respectively. They gave Wild Card appearances three times.
