Its not important to be a part of the rat race. If tortoise can win then why not make it slow and steady win the race.

 1. Tell us about your background and your journey.

I belong to a very simple middle-class family. It was not like that I got very much support from my family while starting my career in content creation. And my journey has just started now.

I have turned 21 this year so I can say its just a start to my journey, I have to achieve many more things and dreams so that I can say my journey is very big. I am looking forward to many more targets to be accomplished.

2. When did you first decided that you wanted to create content and how did you start?

Actually, I had never thought of creating content. Many people still don’t know that I had done Journalism and I was former employee at INDIA NEWS. I have hobby of writing and I was passionate about it too, I used to write news lines at my job too.

During that time once I went to Connaught Place (Delhi) where a guy approached me to work together for a video shoot but then he ditched me. So, I got hurt but then it came to my mind that if I can then why not give it a try. Then I decided to start something on YouTube.

So, I did a lot of hard work, got support from my friends and then it went on. When it came to content, in early days I had to face a lot of problem, my family was totally unaware about it. But then my brother saw my first video on his feed and that’s how my family got to know about it.

So, it was never decided that I will be creating content in future but it all did happened with luck, hard work and support of my friends.

3. Being a woman what are the difficulties you have to face in this path?

Yes, being a woman, I had faced some difficulties which I don’t think I would have if I had been a guy. For example, when a guy gives slang that’s cool for everyone but when the same slang comes out of the mouth of a woman its very bad and not acceptable.

And when I started creating content, I faced many negativities in the comment section and also my neighbors used to complain my family that your daughter is doing wrong, she should not leave journalism etc. While my family don’t have much clue about social media, they always thought of it as a waste of time.

So, in early stage I was very much pressurized by my family, they wanted me to carry on my journalism. Then somewhere in my mind I got feared what if I don’t get successful in the path I have chosen, I will be disappointing my family very much.

I had to wear makeup and dress up in a different style for my video, but people near me started pointing out that, what is she wearing, why so much make up and all, so my family also used to tell me not to go out like this.

After being so much questioned about what I was doing, a point came where I started questioning myself too, I started doubting me whether I was doing right or not or should I stop it. And I gave it a thought to leave it all and go back to journalism.

All I needed was one person to tell me that I am doing right and I must do it and for me that person was my friend Mayank Kaushik. He supported me a lot, more than anyone ever. He stood with me even when my family was not there. He supported me financially and mentally.

He used to work in HINDUSTAN TIMES, but he left that to be in this together with me. So, If I would have dropped my plan then it would have wasted his efforts and trusts too. So yeah, this was all I went through. Yes, I had worked hard lot but everything else was interesting.

4. Who is your favorite creator and why?

My favorite creator is HARSH BENIWAL. I just love his sense of humor and his content is also very creative. Other than him I like Carryminati (Ajey Nagar) too.

5. How and where do you find inspiration to churn out content?

I get inspiration from my old videos and my friend Mayank; he inspires me a lot. His dedication towards my content motivates me a lot. When a story is made, audience love the on-screen characters in it but they don’t know where the content had come from, who has written it, who has put effort in it, those people are not praised. So, this selfless effort of my friend Mayank is source of unlimited inspiration for me.

There is one more YouTuber Salil Jamdar, his work also inspires me a lot. He also does a lot of good work for the society and when I see his videos, I feel that these things should be done to make our society a better place.

6. How do you deal with hate mongers under the comment section?

I was very skinny at the time I started making videos, people used to post very bad comments on my look, they used to abuse me also and all these were very hurting. One day a guy abused me on Instagram, so I replied him back.

Then he texted me back and told me the whole idea of him abusing me was to get reply from me. He apologized to me and said “Sorry Didi, I thought you won’t reply if I  praised you.” That day I learnt something, people like him just want attention and that’s why they are doing all these, so its better to avoid them rather than feeling hurt.

So best reply to them is to ignore them, or I try to reply them in a funny way so that they feel guilty and think before posting such comments in future.

7. What piece of advice would you like to give to future and aspiring creators?

In this industry there are already too many cheap and vulgar contents, when I started many people told me “who watch decent videos these days? Every one likes vulgarity and slangs.”

So, my suggestion is one should try to make good content and avoid vulgarity, your video should be funny and watchable with family. Its not important to be a part of rat race. If the tortoise can win then why not make it slow and steady and win the race.

If someone wants to come in this field, they must create something healthy and funny. People these days face too many problems, everyone have their own struggle. So, if your video can bring smile on their face then what else can be better than that. Always aim to make your audience smile and happy.
