1. How and when did you decide to become a graphic designer?

In my 3rd year (2009) at the university, I realized that I didn't want to be the one I was studying. I studied to be an engineer. I asked myself the question "Who do I want to be?" and I definitely decided that I would be a designer. In the 5th year of 2011, I got a job as a designer in a local IT company.

I still don’t know why they hired me, I had no work experience and I wasn’t familiar with Photoshop yet. Perhaps they saw the fire in my eyes and a great desire to create. There I first came into close contact with design and my design career began. My hobby has become my profession and that's great.

2. What is the role and scope of work of a graphic designer?

The role and scope of a graphic designer's work varies by industry. The role of graphic design in our daily life cannot be overemphasized.

Graphic design is everywhere. If you look around, you will see many examples of the work of a graphic designer - logos, brand identity, product labels, fonts, packaging, metro and route maps, book covers, TV screensavers, newspapers and magazines, posters, stickers, icons, mobile and computer games, billboards - all this (and more) is created by a graphic designer.

The scale of the project that the graphic designer is working on can be quite small - an application icon on your phone, or global - a navigation design for a city or an entire country.

3. What tools and software should a graphic designer be familiar with?

The knowledge and ability to use certain software also depends on the field of activity of the graphic designer. I think that the basic program for all graphic designers is Adobe Photoshop and the main Adobe product package (Illustrator, InDesign, and AfterEffects if the graphic designer is doing animation). For the last 5 years I have been using Sketch for many graphic design tasks.

4. How, in your opinion, has this profession changed over time?

Graphic design, in the course of its historical development, gradually penetrated into all layers of society. Once upon a time, it started out simply as a design for book covers, advertisements or posters, and then has grown to widespread and inconspicuous use.

I think that the scale of application of graphic design in everyday life is a major change in the profession. Technologies, equipment, tools, fashion change, but the essence of the profession of a graphic designer has remained the same. And it will always be in demand.

5. Do you often have to constantly improve your qualifications?

Each new task a graphic designer has to perform is a kind of professional development opportunity. I am learning and improving my graphic design skills every day. Each time I try to do the same type of tasks better and better than the previous time. I think that this is the essence of development.

6. How to develop a keen sense of design and aesthetics?

To develop a sense of aesthetics and design, you need to try to surround yourself with aesthetics and beauty ... You need to be as greedy as possible for everything beautiful: architecture, billboards, magazines, books, advertising on the streets and on social networks. All visual art should be reviewed and analysed regularly. And over time, a sense of aesthetics and good taste will certainly form.

7. What's your favourite book and why?

My favourite book is not related to design. "The Lord of the Rings" John Ronald Tolkien. I love the spirit of adventure, incredible and unexplored worlds and their inhabitants ...
