The Benefits of Fostering Mental Health

Physical fitness is important to live a happy and healthy life as everyone says but, has anyone ever talked about mental fitness? Well, we don't really care much about our mental health as we do for our physical health and that’s why the question arises, why don't we even talk about this thing so often?

Maybe, because we cannot see it and when we can't see something we obviously don't give much importance to but, have you ever tried to give it a thought that how your mental health affects your physical health?

How whenever our mind is upset about something, we also don't feel like doing anything even if we try to indulge ourselves in other works, we still don't feel right about it because that one thing keeps on pinching us, due to which our body also feels lethargic. Hence, resulting from headaches to nausea, we start facing a lot of health issues when we keep on over thinking about something. So, taking care of your mental health is as important as maintaining physical health.

However, we cannot say that mental health is more important than physical health as they both are interrelated and interconnected in some way. As one cannot work without the support of the other one, it is really important for our mind and body to be in sync with each other.

Our body works the way our conscience tells it to. As they cannot be separated, there needs to be a perfect balance between our body and mind. For instance, whenever a person is suffering with a chronic health disease which is non-curable, people often start sympathizing with the person or pitying them, feel bad for them and even cry in front of them, which downs the morale of the patient and he starts thinking negative about everything around him, even if he used to be optimistic before, which ultimately results in slowing down the healing process and the condition starts to get worse than ever before.

Now, think what if you replace the sympathy with empathy and start understanding the patient's mindset and instead of feeling bad for the patient, you start feeding him with positive thoughts about him and start developing a positive mindset of him, then you will see the difference. The difference in behavior, the recovery rate will increase eventually and the patient will start healing faster.

Mental and physical health are overall important for your physical as well as psychological well-being. the way you think about yourself, the way you feel about yourself is also important much like how much time you give to your physical exercise, if we nurture our mental health, we can combat any physical problem too.
