It was 30th August, 2020 when YouTube India was in shock because one of the most famous Pub-G Mobile streamer Soul Mortal aka Naman Mathur broke the record of highest watching on stream where the peak watching was once close to 500k, on the same day other Pub-G mobile streamers like Scout (Tanmay Singh), Soul Regaltos (Parv Singh), 8-bit Mamba (Salman Ahmed) etc. also saw their personal peak watching and was bamboozled by the love of their supporters.
After this great high 2nd September, 2020 when the scenario changed upside down; it was the day when the Govt. of India banned 58 Chinese Apps including Pub-G Mobile. The decision really didn’t go well throughout the gaming community as it was the only game which was giving hope to e-sports community of India.
While some prefer to stick to the game while there were a good percentage of some well known Gamer/Content creators who moved to other games to try and entertain their fans. We take at the games streamers used the most to keep entertaining their fans & followers:
1. Fall guys: Ultimate Knockout is a platformer battle royale game developed by Mediatonic and published by Devolver Digital. Though the game was only released back in August, 2020 but it was an instant hit when it was streamed by the streamers as it was kind of game where you can play with your friends and compete without being serious.
The 60 people battle royale game was something that the Indian youtubers played for so many hours with a quest to win while being on stream; this required a hell lot of patience but eventually to entertain people it was something that connected with people instantly.
2. Among Us: it’s an online multiplayer game developed and published by American Game studio Innersloth. Though the game was first published back in 2018 but the game came into light in 2020 when streamers wanted more fun and to get more content and fun for entertainment purpose.
The game’s main theme of Social Deduction where you vote one Suspect or Imposter (as they call in game) out for killing the Crewmates caught the main attraction of the youtubers and as they started playing the game on stream the audience a lot of new hacks and techniques of mastering the game.
Eventually the game got great success in India once it was played by the famous youtubers on stream.
3. Minecraft: it is a Sand Box Video Game developed by Mojang, the game was created a decade ago back in 2009 for some personal computers after an early success it was rather developed and was re-released in public domain back in 2011.
While the games was always a huge success abroad and still it is the best-selling video game of all time, with 200 million copies sold and 126 million monthly active users as of 2020. But in India was hardly famous until Soul Mortal & Soul Regaltos played in on stream first time and eventually changed the fortune of this game in India.
This Java developed game has no specific goals giving the players a huge amount of freedom to play the game and build their dream island however they want, though there’s an achievements system and increases the rank of any player.
Though it was difficult to get content or get audience for this game but they still the hard grind and eventually entertained people while exploring a new dimension of gaming.
4. Valorant: it is a game which gave a new high to the gaming community of India and e-sports a new sort of fresh air to breath.
It’s a a free-to-play multiplayer tactical first-person hero shooter developed and published by Riot Games, it took them 6 years to develop the game fully and once it was released it took the world by a storm.
The CS-go players as well as former Pub-g mobile players looked upon the game as the new opportunity to grow the e-sports in India and according to some reports in the last 4 months it is the most streamed game on Youtube.
The special abilities and attributes of different agents caught the eyes of many gamers as there a lot of new gamers became as the game more famous enrooting a new generation and pool of competitive players wishing to represent India on international stage.
5. Cyberpunk: it is a 2020 action role-playing video game developed and published by CD Projekt, this game was published in 2020. It is a game played on First Person Perspective and with a great story mode experience alike GTA V.
There are a very few but very well known streamers who tried this game eventually getting addicted to the game. With increasing difficulty of the challenges the audience also got great entertainment while watching their favorite youtubers play this game on live stream.
There are other games which streamers tried for entertainment purpose though most of them failed to make a mark there stood a few like Getting Over It, PubG PC.
And lastly there was good news as Indian Olympic Association recognized e-sports as Sports officially giving hopes to so many dreamers who dreams of gaming and doing something great in life.
