5G Technology in India: Why We Need It?

In 1983, the first generation technology – 1G network was launched in the USA
was Chicago based Ameritech. Several countries then followed it including the
UK, Mexico and Canada.

1G, 2G, 3G and 4G represent the four generation of mobile network. Each
generation is a set of mobile network standards, which detail the technological
implementation of the particular mobile network. Like 1G offers 2.4 kbps, 2G
offers 64kbps and it keeps developing as the generation develops.

2G and 3G Technology

Second Generation (2G) delivered digital signals and offered 250kbps speed. It
supports voice, text and data service. Almost many countries shut down this
generation and moved on to the next generations, the fastest ones.

Third Generation (3G) technology uses phone towers to pass signals and relatively fast connection over long distance. It offers up to 2mbp speed. It enables faster communication, send and receive large emails, large text and data, fast web browsing, video streaming.

How fast the 4G Technology is?

TeliaSonera was the one who launched Fourth Generation technology (4G). It
happened on late 2009. In 2014, 4G service spread to more than 10 countries. 4G network is very fast compared to 3G. It offers up to 1gbps. Its download speed is 5times faster than 3G.

4G uses high-speed upload and download packets and it high capacity with low
cost per bit. It provides broadband style speeds from mobile device, tablet or laptop and broadcasting across the country. It supports interactive multimedia, voice, video, wireless internet and other broadband services.

5G Technology

5G is the 5th generation mobile network. It is a new global wireless standard after 1G, 2G, 3G, and 4G networks. 5G enables a new kind of network that is designed to connect virtually everyone and everything together including machines, objects, and devices.

China had the highest percentage of 5G Speed test results compared to other
mobile technology types in Q3 2020 at 18.9%. South Korea was second, Hong
Kong third, Puerto Rico fourth and Qatar fifth.

This why we need 5G Technology?

Fifth-generation wireless (5G) is the latest iteration of cellular technology,
engineered to greatly increase the speed and responsiveness of wireless networks.

It will be deployed in stages over the next several years to accommodate the
increasing reliance on mobile and internet-enabled devices. 5G is the fastest mobile network technology available. It offers up to 10gbps. It is designed to support a 100x increase in traffic capacity and network efficiency.

Necessity of 5G

5G network can reach 10 gigabits per second – up to 100 times faster than 4G. Its network can deliver the level of performance needed for an increasingly connected society. Its capacity is higher than 4G.

5G Ultra Wideband, Verizon's millimeter wavelength (mm wave)-based 5G,
operates at frequencies of about 28 GHz and 39GHz. This is considerably higher
than 4G networks, which use about 700 MHz-2500 MHz frequency to transfer
information.

5G is increased Bandwidth for all users and more bandwidth means faster speed.
Higher data rates enables consumers to download content more quickly and lower
latency allows users to experience less delay in the requesting data.

Can 4G be replaced by 5G?

Yes, 4G phones still work on a 5G network. The truth is that 5G is not an entirely
new network. It's just an added new technology in 4G network and next level generation. So your 4G phone will keep working just fine and you will only have to upgrade if you want 5G's blazing speed.
