Oren Segal - My Eye for a Sense of Style Started to Develop and I Gradually Became Pickier and Pickier About the Things I Wore (Model)

Oren Segal

My personal style is something that I’ve been able to develop over time. I would say that I at some point never knew what style was until I was able to see it through a different lens and really play around with things I enjoyed on other people, and that is where it really started. My eye for a sense of style started to develop and I gradually became pickier and pickier about the things I wore.

1. Tell us about your background and journey.

Growing up in the city while going to an NYC public school was where I started playing music and that led me to continue studying music up until today. As someone who has spent their childhood participating in many different activities, I learned to be well-versed in most things and a fast learner which has helped me excel.

As someone who is still riding along in their journey, I am constantly learning and striving to be better in every aspect of life, putting all of my efforts into the things that matter.

2. What inspired you to pursue modeling?

Ever since I was young I always enjoyed being in front of the camera, but I never pursued modeling when I was young. I always felt that I had it in me, but I think that it was more about pushing my individuality and uniqueness for more people to see.

I can’t say that I was inspired by someone that I looked up to because I generally wasn’t. I think that it was the drive to want to stand out from the crowd that motivated me to want to achieve that.

3. What do you enjoy most about modeling?

I have to say that it’s calming, almost meditative even in a way, depending on who you work with and where you shoot. I think the most enjoyable aspect to it is finding things you like to wear and constantly pushing your own boundaries with different outfits and even discovering things you never thought you could pull off, but also being able to share my personal style and image with the world is sometimes a rewarding part of the process.

4. How would you describe your personal style?

My personal style is something that I’ve been able to develop over time. I would say that I at some point never knew what style was until I was able to see it through a different lens and really play around with things I enjoyed on other people, and that is where it really started. My eye for a sense of style started to develop and I gradually became pickier and pickier about the things I wore.

I really was able to look at other people’s clothing on the street and take certain aspects from pieces of clothing that they would be wearing which contributed to every piece of clothing I wear or buy. I’ve also stayed away from Streetwear and baggy clothing because I know it’s something that doesn’t fit in my bracket but also doesn’t appeal to me at all and the name I’d give it is “Contemporary Sheik”.

5. Who do you admire the most and why?

I admire both of my parents the most and they’ve set a great example for me ever since I was a young boy. As immigrants from Israel, they came with close to nothing and were able to create a home and a family in uncharted waters. They were always able to motivate and push me to achieve and constantly reach higher and better.

6. What tips and advice would you give to aspiring models?

As someone who is still on the same journey myself, it is hard to give advice as someone who has only just touched the surface, but I would say that being kind and humble always supersedes and makes its way to the top. Try to be unique, try to stand out, and don’t ever follow the crowd.
