The Victory of Faith over Facts: Babri Masjid Verdict

 


The Babri mosque is a mosque in Uttar Pradesh's Ayodhya, many Hindu believed that it's the birthplace of God Shree Ram, which is the reason behind the dispute of Hindu Muslim in India since the 18th century, who knows how many elections were fought based on this dispute.

Indians are very sensitive to their religious beliefs, whether they are Hindu or Muslim.


Who Demolished the Mosque?

In 1992 Babri mosque was demolished by Hindu organizations such as "kar sevaka" "vishva Hindu parishes" and other so-called Hindu Nationalists, mosque was targeted by the Hindu mob after a huge rally.

This Demolition resulted in riots across the country, more than 2000 people were killed in those riots most of them were Muslims.

A high-ranking member of the special branch in the Bombay riots confessed that the police were fully aware of the Shiv Sena's capabilities to commit acts of violence and that they had provoked hate against the Muslims.

CBI registered FIR against 28 people for demolition of the mosque, many of them were from Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).


History of Babri Masjid

The Babri mosque was built by Mir baqi, who was commander of the Mughal emperor Babar, the mosque was built in 1528.

In 1949 idols of Ram Lalla were placed under the central dome outside the mosque.

In Aug 1989, Allahabad High Court orders status quo in respect of the mosque or disputed structure.

In 1992, the kar sevaka and other Hindu organisations led by BJP leaders destroyed the mosque,

After 1992, the case was in the High Court again in the supreme court.

It was the day when the final judgement of this long-disputed structure came,

The disputed sacred site of Ayodhya should be given to Hindus (a major religion in India) who want a temple built there, the country's Supreme Court has ruled.

Muslims will be provided with another plot of land to construct a mosque, the court announced.


What Was the Reaction of Muslims after Judgement?

As we all know Muslims are a minority in India, they accused that they were neglected, their beliefs and emotions were neglected by the Supreme Court, they started to celebrate black Day after this judgement, the country's most popular Muslim leader Asududdin owaisi said:

"I am not satisfied with the verdict. The Supreme Court is certainly supreme but not infallible. We have full faith in the Constitution. We were fighting for our legal rights. Muslims do not need five-acre land as a donation."

He added that this judgement is a Victory of faith over the facts.


What Happened to Those Who Were Accused in the Demolition of the Mosque?

A special central bureau investigation court has acquitted all 32 people who had been accused of crimes in a 1992 attack of mosque and demolition of a 16th-century mosque that provoked Hindu-Muslim violence leaving 2,000 people dead.

No one was punished for demolishing the mosque.


Post-Judgment Objection on Judges by Minority

Chief Justice was Ranjan Gogoi in the Babri mosque verdict, Former CJI Ranjan Gogoi nominated to Rajya Sabha, less than 6 months after retirement. He was the first former CJI appointed to Rajya Sabha,

The judge who acquitted 32 in the Babri Masjid demolition case elected as Deputy Lokayukta, Uttar Pradesh.

Indian Muslims allegedly says this special treatment given to them by the BJP government for biased decision.
