Dr. Nimrata Bindra - Nurture Your Talents, Ignite Your Passion and Go Find Yourself in the World (Blogger from India)

Balancing your personal & Professional life is my success mantra because there is no shortcut to success. Only undeterred hard work & passion. With a full-time working clinic; it does get extremely difficult. But I compartmentalize my time and try to plan and execute tasks as per a schedule.

Tell us about your background and journey.

A dentist by profession and Instagram influencer by passion, I am Dr. Nimarta Bindra. I’m an Indian Mommy who brings her unique chutzpah to both her roles. Peeking into people's mouths is my profession and sharing my unique vision of mommy life and more through my Instagram blog @the_momster is my passion. But it thrills me that both allow me to change lives and bring a beautiful smile to people's faces.

What led you to start your page on Instagram, and what is it about?

Never had I imagined that writing long birthday messages on Facebook would lead me to this someday. Happy in a full-time profession as a dentist, one fine day after advice from my dear aunt; I started documenting my journey on Instagram with my kids. Kyra was 6 then and Amaan was on the way. And today 2 years, 2 kids, 1500 plus posts, and 55000 plus followers later; the entire journey seems like a dream.

It started with documenting my 2nd pregnancy and sharing my daily life experiences with Kyra. And very soon, I was being approached by brands and agencies for campaigns and endorsements. And after my son was born, there was no looking back. Today, we stand a strong page on Instagram having worked with over 500 brands including Godrej, Panasonic, Oreo, British Paints, Casio, Levis, Vedantu, Birla, Max, Amway and so many more.

In fact, I even run 2 other accounts on Instagram, one is my food page and the other about kids' dentistry.

How would you distinguish the term blogger from an influencer?

Though nowadays the terms are being used pretty synonymously. But technically, a blogger owns a domain and writes blogs on a website. Whereas an influencer shares her experiences through pictures and/or concise words on a medium like Instagram.

Is it financially sustainable to be an influencer today?

Of course, it is, depending upon your lifestyle and expectations. But for a startup, it’s extremely feasible for a stay-at-home mom. Can make for some very good pocket money initially and then gradually builds up to a good income I feel as per personal experience. But, all said and done; if managed correctly, the income can help u sustain happily.

What do you think influences consumer behavior?

I think it’s when a like-minded mom or someone you can relate to puts forth a suggestion, you are very likely to pick it up and at least try it once. So, I think relatability is the key.

What is your idea of success or your mantra in life?

Balancing your personal & Professional life is my success mantra because there is no shortcut to success. Only undeterred hard work & passion. With a full-time working clinic; it does get extremely difficult. But I compartmentalize my time and try to plan and execute tasks as per a schedule.

My clinic is my priority of course but I do end up with sleepless nights to complete my blogging commitments. The fact that influencing involves a lot of activities with my kids makes it all the more worthwhile.

How can someone become a successful social media influencer?

1. Dedication - Making a plan and sticking to it

2. Unparalleled hard work - Put your heart and soul into content creation

3. Consistency - Regular posting, engagements, and interactions

4. Visibility and Relatability

5. Satisfaction - If you like what you are putting out, others will like it too.

Which is your favorite book, and why?

In fiction, I love Harry Potter because when underdogs do well when they shine; I feel empowered.

In non-fiction, it has to be The Magic Of Thinking Big because I feel it’s all in the mind. I believe we all are multitaskers and the best at what we do for our family and kids. But in that process, let’s not forget our true identities. Let’s find our real calling.

Nurture your talents, ignite your passion and go find yourself in the world. You are so much more than a wonderful mom. Don’t let that take a back seat. The power to win lies within you and once you acknowledge that, success can’t stay far away from you.
