As per my parents, the first word that came from my mouth was "Dawaii" (medicines), from the very beginning I liked helping family members and neighbours when they were sick which motivated me to pursue medicine as a passion. There is happiness in giving which I understood from the early experiences of my life.

1. Tell us about your upbringing, background, and journey?

I am from New Delhi presently living in Gurugram, Haryana Delhi NCR region, and working at Medanta Mediclinic New Delhi situated in the southern part of Delhi. I started my medical journey with Medanta the Medicity Gurugram from the department of Internal Medicine and Geriatrics. Medicine is a passion for me and every day is a new learning experience.

I have worked on multiple humanitarian calls such as Nepal Earthquake in 2015 at ground zero for more than 50 days proving medical relief to the people affected by the massive earthquake, In 2018 served in Flood-affected regions of Kerala, Southern India for more than 30 days, In 2019 organized health camps for the pilgrims of Kumbh Mela Prayahraj for more than a month to serve the community at large, I participated in more than 100 camps in different districts of North India.

Furthermore, given my services in Afghanistan also by organizing medical camps more than 5 times to help people in need. In 2020 after the national lockdown started free telemedicine helpline with more than 50 doctors team and helped more than 10,000 patients by providing free medical consultations during this pandemic.

2. Why did you choose to be a doctor and decide what you specifically want to do?

As per my parents, the first word that came from my mouth was "Dawaii" (medicines), from the very beginning I liked helping family members and neighbours when they were sick which motivated me to pursue medicine as passion. There is happiness in giving which I understood from the early experiences of my life.

3. We salute your work during the pandemic, where did you get the inspiration to work so hard?

First of all, I would like to salute all healthcare workers who are working 24x7 for this pandemic across the globe. My Seniors and colleagues are my inspiration who have always supported me in my difficult times as " Hands those help others are holier than the lips that pray". Respected CMD of my Hospital Padmashri Dr Naresh Trehan, eminent cardiac surgeon of India is a great mentor and guide who guides young doctors like me to work on a mission. I believe the blessings of my patients reach us in different ways.

4. How do you expect digital health to grow over the next 5 years?

I can visualize that in the next 5 years every human being on this planet may take medical consultation within minutes and healthcare may become affordable and easily available for all. A specialist recommendation may reach every district and virtual guidance and expert opinions may provide better care in difficult times.

5. What are your concerns about Digital Health?

It is worth mentioning that physical examination is vital, however, timely telemedicine guidance may help to diagnose and screen millions of people who may find it difficult to reach a doctor. Moreover, delivery of medications and investigations at home will make the process easy by diagnosing diseases early and by providing prompt treatment.

6. Can you let us know anyone application of Digital Health in your country which has impressed you?

I would like to mention here Medanta Hospital's medical app which is very effective in connecting with patients, reading previous records and reports and sharing new prescriptions with an effective referral system to take expert opinions from the super-specialists

7. What is your message for aspiring doctors and the young generation? Which is the best medical college according to you?

We all know that it is a mission and not a profession so one should love his job and should have self-motivation. Every medical college is best in the teaching of the art of medicine.

8. What does your typical day look like and what do you like to do besides work?

My day starts with prayer which gives me motivation for the day and helps me plan my activities with new energy. I have to reach the hospital by 9:00 am and work till 5:00 pm after that I do teleconsultations till 8 pm followed by replying to emails, WhatsApp, social media queries till 11:30 pm. Along with my work, I prefer listening to classical music and read the latest medical updates about the pandemic.
