1. Tell us more about your background and journey.

I belong to a family of doctors and being an engineer I'm like a black sheep. My family is blessed with beautiful voices and I totally believe that I'm genetically endowed with this skill to make people happy with my singing. I definitely put in a lot of work in improving myself but we cannot ignore God's blessings!

I'm currently working as an Optical Engineer in Michigan, USA and am a postgraduate from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. I have always been into singing but it was only 1.5 years back when I started taking it seriously and started sharing content on social media platforms.

2. When did you first decide you wanted to pursue music and how did you start?

My parents always encouraged me to get into competitions and choirs and that's how it all started. I was in school and college bands too but it was in 2019 when I received some training in vocal music and am planning on doing more.

3. Who is your favourite artist and why?

My favourite artist is Arijit Singh. This answer seems like a very generic one but my reason is that the prowess and versatility that he has shown can be rarely seen in singers.

4. Can you throw some light on opportunities one gets as a singer?

One has to be passionate about the art as well as skilled in order to grow professionally. I feel that India has started to recognize live singing and shows besides playback, singers are starting to get paid well too but there is a long way to go.

It's not easy to sustain a good quality life without continuous offers. Also, most parents still don't support the idea of pursuing music professionally. Getting into Bollywood is very tough because of the immense competition and the fact that known people get favoured. So one has to constantly improve and grow his/her contacts.

5. Is format training required or can one train themselves purely on the basis of talent?

I believe that training is required for anyone to grow. Without external knowledge one could easily become stagnant and complacent.

6. What piece of advice would you like to give to future and aspiring artists?

I would like to say - Congratulations that you are into music because not even 10% of people on earth are gifted with this art, be it singing or playing an instrument. So you're already the cream of the crop.

If you want to pursue music as a career, get trained and practice everyday. One could start with social media platforms because they are a great source of exposure. Believe in yourself and take criticism constructively!

7. Which is your favourite book and why?

I read a lot of self-help books and my favourite one is Emotional Intelligence by Daniel Goleman. This book has taught me the art of being empathetic, wise, kind and helpful. I would suggest everyone read it and I'm definitely going to read it again!
