Aisha Ahmed - It Takes a Lot of Time to Come up With All the Ideas and Hence Its Not Financially Sustainable (UAE Based Blogger)

We bloggers/influencers have to think of content, a theme, think about the angles for the video/picture. Think of a concept, a storyboard. It takes a lot of time to come up with all the ideas, the editing.

So it’s not all that sustainable unless you have a steady job or parents or partner who has you backed up.

Tell us about your background and journey.

I’m from India but born & brought up here in the UAE. Pretty much a Dubai baby. Dubai is home. Did my schooling here at Indian High School. Did my Bachelors in Fashion from Mahe Manipal. And even before I could start my career I got married, had a daughter at the age of 21 & by the time I turned 25 I was a divorced single mother trying to make ends meet.

That’s when I decided to use my fashion skills & start my own fashion line Hayattii. Which did start off well & to promote it I started posting pictures of me wearing my own outfit & blogging about it.

That’s where my journey as a blogger/Influencer started off. I always had a blog website for my blog but promoting my brand on Instagram gave me a different feeling. I started loving it. And then 5 years down it became my work of line. I do have a proper job but blogging & my Instagram page is literally my baby. It’s the place where I made my identity, my followers my audience my fellow bloggers recognize me. I have had the chance to work with some amazing brands, people recognize me when I’m out in the malls. And that’s a really good feeling.

What led you to start your page on Instagram, and what is it about?

There was this one thing my ex had told me that without his name next to mine no one will recognize me & my name is useless without his name. Well, that started this fire in me that I want to make my name known. That was one of the reasons why I started my own clothing line. And my fashion line gave birth to my Instagram page.

The other main reason for me wanting to make myself known on my own merit was the fact that my daughter is seeing me. I can’t let her see a weak woman who is dependent on others. For me being dependent on others is a big no-no.

I have made a really great & positive community on my page. It fills me with happiness. I try my best to spread as much positivity as I can. We help each other come out of our negative space & embrace the situation & fight it with grace.

Today people know Aishaa711, the fashion & beauty blogger. The woman tries to spread smiles even when she is missing hers.

Not sure if you are aware of this but I also have my own podcast, An-Nisā ever has the chance then do listen to it. You won’t be disappointed I promise.

How would you distinguish the term blogger from an influencer?

Blogger is someone who writes or talks about their experience about a certain thing. And Influencer is very self-explanatory, it is someone who has the ability to influence someone.

A blogger turns into an Influencer when their work has the ability & the power to influence their audience. And I know some really great bloggers who have that power.

Is it financially sustainable to be an influencer today?

Not really. Most brands want to work on the barter system. They want to be featured on our blog or page in exchange for the goods they sell. But the amount of time, effort & hard work that goes into creating one piece of content, one post on Instagram is insane.

We bloggers/influencers have to think of content, a theme, think about the angles for the video/picture. Think of a concept, a storyboard. It takes a lot of time to come up with all the ideas, the editing. So it’s not all that sustainable unless you have a steady job or parents or partner who has you backed up.

What do you think influences consumer behaviour?

As a person who has genuinely liked a product, I will keep talking about it again & again. And when you do that it stays on your audience's mind so much that they eventually look into the product or brand.

That’s one. Second is I feel as a consumer if the brand or product is shown in a fun way then it catches the consumers eye. Emotions play a great part. While thinking of content it’s always nice to think on the lines of how will this brand or product connect to the audience emotionally. These are three things I feel that Influences consumer behaviour

What is your idea of success or your mantra in life?

Something that I really go by is, what’s mine will be mine no matter what. What’s written for me will eventually be mine. Yes, it might take time, the road to getting what’s mine might get difficult but I have faith in the almighty & he won’t ever disappoint me.

How can someone become a successful social media influencer?

There is no right way to become successful. All you have to do is enjoy what you are doing. If you are going to take this as a 9-5 job you won’t be able to succeed. Having said that I don’t mean it’s not a job, but for you to be successful in this, you need to have fun.

If you are not someone who enjoys the photoshoots, the content making, the filming, the editing then this isn’t for you. Be any category then, food, fashion, beauty, fitness, if you are not going to have fun there is no point really.

I enjoy shoots, the whole makes up, get ready, it gives me a rush, it’s my happy place.

And most importantly have a niche for your blog. If you won’t pick a certain topic & try to revolve your blog around it then no one will know what you truly represent.

Aishaa711 represents a strong woman, who talks about positivity with a side of fashion, fitness, food & beauty.

Which is your favourite book, and why?

I love reading, & Elif Shafak is one of my favourite authors. His book Forty rules of love is my favourite. The way love has been portrayed in that book is the love I yearn for.

Rumi & his poems are celebrated all over, & to know how he became Rumi is the most beautiful thing to read about. Love does have the power to turn anybody into a Sufi.
