The way of the world is a play written by William
Congreve. It is regarded as one of the best comedies play and it still

the Author
William
Congreve was born in Bardsey Grange, on an
estate near Leadston west riding of Yorkshire, and went on to become a
restoration-era poet and playwright.
His
first comedy, the old bachelor, which he wrote to entertain himself when
recuperating was performed at the theatre royal in 1693 and much more
successful than his second play, the double dealer.
About
the book
The plot revolves around the marriage, which is more of a business deal between
Mirabell and Millamant. the interesting part of the book is the proviso scene
that tells the battles between the two sexes and the idea of settlement in
marriage. Millamant is the liberated woman who had the right to put her demand
in front of her future husband. she was a genuine woman who didn’t accept society's
rules throw at her. she speaks against the wrong things .she was inspired by so
many other women, who were not aware of their rights.
The
fashionable society was the trend in the town. Characters like wit would go to
any extent to fit in the misfit society. There was no pure relationship of love
between the family. All were against each other to fulfill their selfish
motives.
