Euro 2020: The Top 8 Teams Favorites to Win the Trophy

So finally the much awaited European Championship which got postponed due to the Covid surge last year is upon us. Euro 2020 officially scheduled to happen in 2020 but due to the pandemic it got postponed and its rescheduled to happen this summer.

The tournament will be played in many famous stadiums throughout Europe to avoid unnecessary traveling of the supporters. The tournament starts on 11th June at Stadio Olimpico in Italy and this football carnival will see its last chapter to be written in the Wembley Stadium in England on 12th of July.

Out of the 24 European teams battling out to claim the throne of Europe we are here ranking the top 8 contenders who are likely to win this year's Euro.

1. France:

The reigning World Champions and the finalists of last edition are definitely at the top of their game. Having one of the best and most complete squad they've one of the best starting eleven with a great bench to boost up their squad.

They have a squad filled up with World Class quality players, from Hugo Lloris in goal, to Antoinne Griezemann and Kylian Mbappe up front and mid field star studded with the likes of Pogba and Kante who is considered to be awarded with a Ballon D'or.

Though they are drawn in the Group of death with the likes of Current European champions Portugal and former World and European champions Germany; they looked to solidify their squad even more with the addition of Karim Benzema making them the firm favorites to go all the way through to lift the trophy.

2. Germany:

This will be the last time Joachim Lowe manages Germany and so he will be wanting to go out with a bang.

He has done a lot for the country, including a World Cup win and there are a few great players like Manuel Neuer who could see this as their last tournament as well.

Having a great attacking squad depth makes them the most dangerous team in the Euros. Being put up against the likes of Portugal and France in the death group it would be a hard start for them though the Germans would want to power out through the group stages.

Having the wall Neuer and the Sniper Kroos they're looking formidable as their young talents like Gnabry, Kai Havertz, Werner are in great form. Though their defense looks a bit vulnerable but their attacking power can turn the games on their head easily.

3. Portugal:

The current European Champions and the third counterpart of the group of death currently looking vicious with the amount of talent they've in their squad.

Lead by the legend himself Ronaldo got a great squad having hunger, experience and flair what we expect from a Portuguese team.

A team which haven't won a single match in the regular time till semi finals to winning the trophy without Ronaldo in the final; it was a shocker of a tournament for them. But this time it won't be the same as their team this year looks the best in terms of quality and depth.

Ronaldo would lead the lines having being helped with the likes of Bernardo Silva, Bruno Fernandes, Diogo Jota and others while the experienced Pepe and Perundevanar the best Central defender in the world Ruben Dias giving the safety cover in the back.

There's no one stopping them if they can win their group.

4. England:

Finally the fans of three Lions can sing "it's coming home," as the final is set to happen in Wembley and it would be a dream come true for England if they lift the trophy on their home ground.

Though still there's a long way to go as Gareth Southgate's team prepare with full intensity. England has one of the youngest side having one of the lowest average age which can become a negative thing as some players might not have the experience to play in the big stage.

But even with this young team they reached to the Semis of world Cup 3 years back so this time they would definitely want to go one up.

Leading the lines will be Harry Kane who had been in great form with having help from the likes of Sancho, Rashford and Grealish who can unleash a great threat in front of goal.

On the other side Maguire and Stones the duo who are used to battle against each other in the mancunian derby will play side by side making it a formidable partnership in front the English goal.

They start their campaign against Croatia the team who beat them in World Cup semi final. It would be a great year to start for Southgate and his team to show their metal.

5. Italy:

The team who failed to qualify in the last World Cup and faded away from international scene. Yet currently they are unbeaten in 27 straight games under their new manager Roberto Mancini.

A blend of youngsters and experienced players gives this squad an extra edge as they have hunger as well as a point to prove to their fans.

Having the likes of Chiellini and Bonucci in the defense with a young and probably the best asset of Italian football Locatelli to give a solid base to the likes of Insigne, Immobile to strike on the other hand.

Their midfield also looks solid having the Champions league winner Jorginho and Verrati their skipper it's a very good squad.

Though will they be able to perform in the biggest stage is a big question mark but yes they're another firm favorites.

6. Belgium:

Currently the World's number One team according to the FIFA rankings who're still trying to win their first major trophy.

Having their golden period is a team consisting stars of world football. Their coach Roberto Martinez is one mastermind who took them to third spot in the last World Cup.

Their midfield is studded with the likes of De Bruyne currently the best baller in the world and having the likes of chadli, Tielemans, Witsel providing a stable base for the likes of Lukaku, Carrasco and Mertens to score goals upfront.

Their defense looks a bit out of pace but it has a lot of experience making them a firm favorites too.

7. Netherlands:

A revived and reformed Dutch side is only looking up coming back from their deepest down when they failed to qualify for last Euros and even the last World Cup. They reached the finals of UEFA Nations League where they got beaten by Portugal shows a great progress.

The young Dutch side have a lot of potential and hunger. Having the likes of Wijnaldum, Depay, De Jong shows great potential in the creative and attacking.

But they lost their captain and leader of defence Van Dijk diye to injury as well as a very important creative midfielder Van de Beek making their challenge for the trophy a bit underwhelming.

8. Spain:

The Red giants of Europe is another team to watch out. Luis Enrique chose a surprising and interesting squad for this Euro which was questioned by many but it's time for them to show what they can do.

Having a comparatively easy group they would be very happy to start their vanishing on a good note.

As we see a lot of young faces coming through with the likes of Eric Garcia, Pau Torres in defense with an experienced French defender who got Spanish Visa to represent Spain, Aymeric Laporte making them a solid unit having a Goalkeeper like David de Gea also makes their defense solid.

Having midfield maestros like Rodrigo, Thiago, Busquets makes them even better so that the young strikers like Morata could profit from that. Though their striking power like a bit down and loosing their Captain the Senator of defense Sergio Ramos was a big blow for them.

It would be a bit hard for them in the later part of tournament but still they know the feeling of winning which will help them to go through.

Apart from these eight teams there are some teams who can make some surprise yet interesting football stories like 2004 Euros saw lower termed Greece winning the trophy.

The likes of Croatia, Wales are the teams who're hanging around here and there; they can give huge surprises beating the bests on their day which makes this tournament very interesting.

We hope to see a very interesting yet an intense battle of Football to crown the Best Nation of Europe.
