When we work together towards building a solution that is helping small and medium-sized businesses in India grow and conduct their business without any pause. Each day we work towards Ghoshak’s mission to deliver the best customer experience keeps me going and excited.
1. Tell us more about your company and your journey.
Incorporated in September 2020, Ghoshak is on a mission to empower small businesses to go digital. SMBs in India have been struggling to connect with their customers digitally and offer them their products & services. While most companies focus on building SaaS products for enterprise solutions, Ghoshak challenges the status quo by providing SaaS-based offerings for small retail businesses. Started locally, we plan to expand our services to digitize mom-and-pop shops globally.
2. How did you come up with this idea and go about executing it?
Small and medium-sized businesses needed a simple yet effective solution to conduct their business online. We identified the problem, and there was a need to bridge the gap between the local shop owners and their customers. With Ghoshak, we aim to digitally empower small and medium-sized businesses and help them reach their customers.
To avoid hefty commissions charged by aggregators, Ghoshak provides a ready-to-use digital platform to SMBs in India. Instead, we do not want to add to their overhead expenses but reduce their burden of running everyday operations. Hence, the idea of a user-friendly digital platform costs less than the monthly cost of consuming tea cropped up.
3. What is your company's unique value proposition and what sets it apart from its competitors?
For any business to flourish, it is vital to understand your customer. With Ghoshak, we aim to help shop owners gain insight into their customer behavior and buying patterns. We provide deep analytics about customers to the business owners so that they can serve them better.
Our solutions are simple to use yet powerful enough to acquire, engage and retain customers. We have managed to help more than 10k small business owners in just a year and have more than 50k downloads from customers.
4. What makes you happiest and most effective when working with others?

5. What are some of the challenges you’ve faced along the way, and how did you respond to them?
Coming up with a platform that is easy to use and understand has its complexities. When the front-end UI/UX is smooth and flawless, we are working hard at the back-end. We respond to any obstacles as a challenge and try to resolve them in the best possible way.
Creating a digital platform that can fit an entire shop on a mobile device has been the biggest challenge. We are still a work-in-progress and are constantly getting user feedback to improve it.
6. How has the Indian software industry grown open in the last few years?
When I was in college, we grew up looking at companies like Infosys, TCS, CTS. Now the landscape has changed, which is dominated by the startup culture. Ghoshak, too has started to attract some international eyeballs and has begun expanding footprints beyond India. This is how fast the software companies grow and cater to global demand.
7. Your advice to future software engineers.
My advice to future software engineers would be first to lay the groundwork and foundation. It is essential to keep growing and upskilling not only through textbooks but going beyond them. Then, start solving real-life problems; who knows, you could be the next entrepreneur.
