"Jordan's ability to train and motivate salespeople at all levels of expertise is second to none. The changes to the Amcom sales staff were both immediate and lasting, and the sense of teamwork among our employees has never been stronger. There is no other sales training out there in the same league like this."

Jordan Belfort was born in 1962 in Queens, New York. He is an American author, motivational speaker, and entrepreneur. He is also the founder of the largest American brokerage, the infamous—Stratton Oakmont. His story has been immortalized by Leonardo DiCaprio which made it into a Golden Globe-winning and Academy Award-nominated film.

Belfort worked various jobs to support himself like a door-to-door meat and seafood salesman in New York. With the help of his family friend, he found a job as a stockbroker trainee at L.F. Rothschild. This was his first business venture which was initially successful but later sent him bankrupt at twenty-four.

About the Book

The Way of the Wolf by Jordan Belfort is a sales and persuasion tutor in the form of a book. This book is all about learning his methods for becoming a great salesperson through “The Straight Line System.” 12 chapters are focusing on sales, management, body language, behavior, influence, and incorporation of art and science.

The book starts with a prologue: The birth of the sales system. Here the author describes a natural-born salesman who can even sell ice to an Eskimo through the art of persuasion as a gift.

The following chapters explain the Straight Line System as a good framework for making sales. It outlines important points and allows you to methodically yet naturally progress through the various stages of a sale. There’s nothing groundbreaking about it since it is more based on common sense and an amalgamation of tried-and-true principles that have already been invented, but you will get value from it.

This book is published in more than 40 countries and has been translated into 18 languages.

My Review - A Personal Verdict

What impressed me more in the book is the author himself. Jordan Belfort is an inspiration and motivation for those who are seeking a second chance in their life. He committed a lot of wrongs in his past and he is not proud of them.

He doesn't want to be remembered by them, so he constantly works hard to become the best version of himself. He hustled ices to put himself through college, was convicted felon, pleaded guilty in 1999, and spent 22 months in prison.

His first company was declared bankrupt by the age of twenty-four. After experiencing so many setbacks, he stood taller and stronger. He pushed himself harder every time and became the victor.

This book is partially a memoir where the author explained his journey to become the world's best salesman. Anyone who sees himself in the marketing and sales field should read this at least once in his life.

Even those who want to learn the art of persuasion and effective body language should give this book a shot. The tips and tricks will render others speeches when you step into the arena of negotiation. I would undoubtedly recommend this book to aspire salespeople.

Famous Quotes

  1. "Let me tell you something. There’s no nobility in poverty. I’ve been a rich man and I’ve been a poor man. And I choose rich every f**king time". – Jordan Belfort

  1. “The only thing standing between you and your goal is the bullshit story you keep telling yourself as to why you can’t achieve it." – Jordan Belfort

The Bottom Line

Written by the author Mr. Belfort, Wolf of Wall Street himself, this book gives you a summary of the Sales Training System which is called the Straight-line Method of Sales. It simplifies every sales conversation into a simple-to-follow framework.

This book is helpful even to those who don't work as a salesperson. This book is worth picking up and reading from front to back. Every day we are trying to convince and persuade people and promisingly this book will only help.
