Jon Gagnon - Comedians Need To Adapt With Changing Times, And If You Do Not Adapt You Will Be Left Behind (Comedian, Canada)

I want to make people laugh while sneaking in some type of moral lesson, similar to Disney or Pixar

1. How and when did you choose comedy as a career?

In 2014 I was hospitalized with a brain injury. My engineering firm paid me not to work for 3 years, so I pursued comedy to keep my sanity and to sort our the trauma.

2. What type of content do you enjoy producing the most and is the most challenging?

I love doing sketch comedy. It’s also the most challenging. I enjoy doing either 15 second or 60 second clips. I have tried to go viral on tik tok, no success yet!

3. Do you prefer digital as a medium or do you enjoy doing live gigs more and why?

Live gigs are the best because the feedback is immediate. Even when I produce short films, I still want to screen it in order to obtain the feedback.

4. People, who are interested in Stand-up Comedy?

Taking up stand-up comedy as a profession, do they need a funny bone or can they develop one?

I have seen some comedians come a long way through hard work. Comedy is an art, and with dedication anyone can become a comedian at some level.

5. How stable is being a stand-up comedian as a profession in India? And what is the future of this profession?

Stand-up comedy is not stable in any regard. Comedians need to adapt with changing times, and if you do not adapt you will be left behind.

6. What impact do you want to make in this world?

I want to make people laugh while sneaking in some type of moral lesson, similar to Disney or Pixar

7. Which is your favourite book and why?

Norweigan Wood - it is charming and dark at the same time, making it curious to me.
