Ann Sheetal - You Need to Have Patience and Real Faith in What You Want (Actor From India)

Ann Sheetal

Life is always about second chances.

1. Tell us about your background and journey.

I’m an Army kid who grew up most of my life all around Indian and then I came back to Kerala during my college studies. I’ve always been enthusiastic about trying out new things and that’s how I started photography and editing and later I got into droning as well. I also did do some modeling while I was in college.

In midst of every interest of mine, I started getting offers for movies while I was in college. But I decided to give it some thought after finishing my graduation, after which I did join an acting school in Mumbai. While at the last week of the course I got an offer to audition for the Malayalam movie Ezra, which I got selected for. And one thing led to another and I did a movie in Tamil called Kaalidas, Ishq in Malayalam, and a Telugu movie called Kinnerasani

2. Did you ever think or dream of being an actor?

Frankly, I’ve always been fascinated with movies, I just loved the way you could disappear into this imaginary world. I never dreamt of being a movie actor though but I did have a desire to be part of it some way. Even though I went to an acting school, I didn’t have full confidence in making it as an actor. I thought I could try cinematography since I had a background in photography.

3. How can one approach their career and have the confidence and belief to become an actor?

I would say that every experience is different for everyone. For some people, it’s an uphill battle and for some, it’s a breeze. But you need to have patience and real faith in what you want. Me getting a chance to audition was completely random, I was noticed in my friend’s Instagram account and approached. The casting director didn’t know I was in an acting school. There’s also a bit of luck in it too. But it’s never impossible.

4. If not this, what would you be doing?

I honestly have no idea, but being the person I am, I wouldn’t be idle and would do anything till it hits the mark and moves forward.

5. For a complete outsider with inroads, what advice would you like to give?

My only advice for a complete outsider with inroads would be that know what you want and work towards it.

6. What is your mantra of success?

I honestly don’t have any mantra, I just hold onto God and move forward. It’s by his grace I am where I am.

7. Which is your favorite book and why?

Book of Job (The Holy Bible), I’d recommend it to anyone and everyone who feels like giving up and feels defeated. Life is always about second chances.
