1. Tell us more about your background and journey.
We are JalRaj, a brothers duo, Jalaj (29) and Rajat (28). Taking the first 3 letters from each, you get JalRaj. We're basically from Ghaziabad but settled in Mohali now and both sing, write, compose and produce songs.
The YouTube journey started way back in 2010 where we used to upload our random 15-20 seconds videos with one of our friends but this channel particularly was started on 16th August 2015 since we wanted a channel where there's no 3rd person included.
We had so many original tunes going in our head at the time and we knew we have to put them in a place where people like us could actually enjoy all those and that was how the channel got started.
Apart from that, everybody loved what we did. Our originals and covers were loved so much that we decided to continue covering songs in our own way.
2. When did you first decide you wanted to pursue music and how did you start?
We were always music lovers and like we said, we had so many tunes going on in our minds which we thought were really good and we wanted to share them all.
YouTube was just getting acknowledged by people here in India and seemed to be the aptest platform for our songs. That was when we decided to start a channel.
3. Who is your favourite artist and why?
Well, we do not have any favourites as such cuz everybody is so good. Really!! Wherever we see, there's someone either with a great voice or has great music or has a great mix, like literally, can't name any since there are so many.
4. Can you throw some light on opportunities one gets as a musician?
Well, there are tons of opportunities if one understands the process of how music works. If everything is managed in the right manner, you can get recognized and get projects in tons.
Also, we must remember opportunities won't come to us, we have to make them possible in any which way.
5. Is format training required or can one train themselves purely on the basis of talent?
Well, we do suggest everyone to get trained first but since we did not have any formal training ourselves, we believe it isn't impossible to be successful without formal training.
Even our music industry has many professionals who did not have any formal training. It all depends upon the hard work one puts in.
6. What piece of advice would you like to give to future and aspiring artists?
