Jaro - We Create Little Changes Today, Which Lead To Profound Results in the Future (Travel Blogger From Hawaii)

It’s so important to surround yourself with people who are going to lift you up and push you to be a better person

1. Tell us about your background and journey.

I am originally from the Czech Republic and moved to Hawaii when I was 5 years old because my family had wanted to learn English at the time. Pretty crazy place to study a language right? A tiny set of islands in the middle of the Pacific Ocean, a 5-hour flight away from the nearest landmass. I quickly fell in love with the ocean and developed a passion for surfing. There really wasn’t that much we could do when surrounded by an ocean of such mass.

Spending so much time in the ocean had given me an eye for adventure, and for wanting to document, to creatively express myself among the nature which surrounded us in Hawaii.

Time went on, and my passion developed further. I hit a point in my life where I had gotten into a relationship with a girl from Canada, and we moved to Oregon for university together, far away from anything I had grown up to know. I had one of the most anxious periods of my life after moving between Oregon & Canada for a girl, disconnected from myself.
This ate away at my soul.

I had to strip myself of that, and from anyone else's expectations on my life, so I broke up with her and traveled down the coast to California to sleep on my friend's floor for 2 months, before taking my first solo trip to New Zealand. I had brought my passions with me and continued to create alongside my travels, eventually finding breakthroughs in my own content, and have been able to sustain my travels full-time currently, while being paid for them.

2. What led you to start your blog and what is it about?

I had started my travel vlog following the most anxious period of my life, the point where I had left the “9-5 lifestyle” to find myself, to strip myself of everyone else's thoughts & feelings, and get to know myself better in another corner of the world.

I hope that my travel vlog inspires people to look at life differently, especially growing up in the rat race which continues to consume America. I want others to chase their passions or their truest selves. This is so important to finding fulfillment and meaning out of life, and ultimately making the world a better place.

3. Is it financially sustainable to be a digital creator these days?

It is more financially sustainable than it has ever been before. Every single year there are new technologies and platforms being created which give us additional avenues at creating an online source of income.

It is not too oversaturated. This is only an excuse. I believe that if you speak your heart out to people, this will shine a light for others to follow. The possibility of online exposure in today's day and age is just inescapable.

The opportunity is sitting right in front of you. The next thing to do is to reach for it and begin your journey.

4. How can someone become a successful travel content creator?

You are going to have to work twice as hard for starters. To become a successful travel content creator and also depends on what you define as being successful. What sort of content do you want to be posting which will make you happy and not burn out in the long run? What are your long-term goals in becoming a content creator? What is your mission, passion, and purpose out it?

Think long and hard about what you want out of it, and just begin. Start creating content. It sounds so simple but the best way forward is to just start and learn while you are creating, instead of learning first and creating afterward. You are going to learn the most as you dive in headfirst.

Alongside this, learn about the different search engines online, whichever you want to create content on, and figure out how you could structure your videos to give you the best possible return online. Then push yourself every single video, and make sure you are improving.

5. What piece of advice would you like to give to future aspiring travel content creators?

Something which has impacted me the most lately has been hanging out with people who haven’t been aligned with my personal goals and values. I hit one of the biggest burnouts of my life and was unable to mentally create anything for almost 2 months.

It’s so important to surround yourself with people who are going to lift you up and push you to be a better person, as well as create content with you.

Content creation, in my opinion, is nearly impossible to do alone because it’s so community-driven, so surround yourself with great people and that will really leverage what you are creating.

6. Who is your favorite creator and why?

My favorite creator online has been Sam Kolder for a very long time because he has incredibly beautiful storytelling skills, and it really shows up in the travel films which he creates with his best friends.

Seeing his work has inspired me as a content creator for many years.

7. Which is your favorite book & why?

My favorite book is “The Compound Effect” which has taught me about the long-term effects of putting in small amounts of work every single day. We create little changes today, which lead to profound results in the future. This has been the book that has really been able to teach me about the importance of just beginning on my passions and has given me the structure I’ve needed in sustaining them for a long period of time.
